Biographical Sketch of John Medley, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** John Medley, salesman for W. J. Swope, was born in Madison County, Virginia, December 27, 1819, and at an early age removed with his parents to Mississippi, where he was educated and reared. His father, M. B. Medley, was a native of Madison County, Virginia, and for thirty eight years was a resident of the old homestead where he was born. In 1856, our subject came to Missouri, locating in Platte County, and re- siding there until 1863, when he took up his abode in St. Joseph. Mr. Medley has lost two wives, the first was Miss Caledonia Adkins, and the second Miss Mary Byrne. By his first marriage he has one daughter, Mary.
