Biographical Sketch of Desire Marechal, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Desire Marechal, of the firm of Marechal & Son, proprietors of the Valley commission house, and dealers in baled hay, corn, oats, etc. is a native of France, and was born November 13, 1826. He was there raised and educated, and served an apprenticeship to the brick and stone mason trade. In 1857, he came to America, and for a time was a resident of Wisconsin and Illinois, locating in St. Joseph in 1863. After a short sojourn he went to Montgomery County, engaging in trade for a time, when he again became a resident of St. Joseph. For a time he operated a feed mill on Frederick Avenue, previous to engaging in his present business. He is a worthy and honorable citizen. He was married, July 8, 1848, to Miss Ernestine Rusel. They have a family of four children: Emeiale, Elish, Sarah and Theophelis.
