Biographical Sketch of W. S. Martin, Bloomington Township, Buchanan
County, MO

W. S. Martin, farmer, section 35, postoffice DeKalb, was born in
DeKalb, Buchanan County, Missouri on February 16, 1848, and has
always made his home in his native county. His father, John S.,
being a miller, the son was also raised in that industry. Since
eighteen years of age he has made farming his principal occupation.
His farm contains 130 acres. Was married December 16, 1875, to
Miss Louisa J. Hyde. She was born in Buchanan County, Missouri,
January 14, 1852, and was raised in her native county, and educated
in the Young Ladies' Institute, of St. Joseph. They have two child-
ren: Charley, born May 26, 1878 and Harry, born March 13, 1880. Mr.
Martin's father was a native of Virginia, and his mother of Ohio.
