Biographical Sketch of W. J. Robertson, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** W. J. Robertson, head engineer of the Glucose Works, is a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, and was born August 25, 1855. When twelve years of age he emigrated to Canada with his parents, locating in Belleville. His father, John Robertson, was a machinest, and for a number of years, has been superintendent of the gas works in that city. W. J. was there educated and learned his trade, and eventually migrated to Detroit, Michigan, where he worked as journeyman for several years. In 1878, he became a resident of this city, and for some time was a machinest in the employ of the Kansas City, St. Joseph & Council Bluffs Railroad Co. Upon the opening of the Glucose Works he took his present position.
