Biographical Sketch of Conrad Tanner, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** Conrad Tanner, was born in Switzerland, May 5, 1834, and when seven- teen years of age came to America, and after a short sojourn in Ohio, removed to St. Joseph. He here learned the wagon maker's trade, and in 1866, opened a shop, the style of the firm being Tanner Bros. He afterward erected the present shop. His long sojourn in this county, and his reputation for first class work, gives him a reputation that is well merited. Some specimens of his work are the wagons of the St. Joseph and New Ulm breweries. He was married in 1857, to Miss Genevieve Harman. They have had ten children, six of whom are living: Conrad, Adolph, Edward, Pauline, William and Clara.
