Biographical Sketch of J. W. Zook, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MO >From "History of Buchanan County, Missouri, Published 1881, St. Joseph Steam Printing Company, Printers, Binders, Etc., St. Joseph, Missouri. ********************************************************************** J. W. Zook is a native of Ohio. His parents emigrated to Missouri when he was a small boy, locating in Holt County, in 1842. He resided there up to 1872, being engaged in the general merchandise business. In 1872, at St. Joseph, he branched out into the pork business with D. Pinegar & Co., which lasted until 1878, at which time he became lessee of the stock yards. In this business he employs six men. In 1864, he was married to Miss Von Luenen, a native of Germany. They have had four children, all alive except one. Mr. Zook is still connected with the pork business.
