Evans, Val. Gideon, Joseph Gideon and one Keith, of Madison county. For several months rumor has asserted the existence of an order in Madison county, the object of which was to afford aid and comfort to the rebellion; but the first definite and authentic information upon the subject was submitted to the authorities last week. This evidence we have examined, and regret that the success of future operations by the authorities for the suppression of this order and the arrest and punishment of the members renders its publication inexpedient. Its state- ments are full and circumstantial. It was secured in a manner and from a source which entitles it to credit. The names of the officers and members of the several lodges, the places of meeting, the proceedings and resolutions had at some of the meetings, and the signs and passwords are all in possession of the Marshall. The genuineness of the signs and passwords has been tested. It appears that the Madison county lodges are in constant communication with the lodges in Missouri; that ammunition in small parcels and information have been smuggled across the border, for the use and benefit of the guerrilla bands. Men who have borne arms in the ranks of the rebel General Price, are now in Madison couonty harbored and defended by members of the order. The organiz- ation seems to be strongest in Southern Iowa, but the agents are industriously engaged in organizing lodges in all parts of the State. There are several hundred members in Madison county, and several thousand in the State. Upon the evidence to which we allude, the authorities orderd the arrest of several of the officers, and the order was carried into execution by Marshal Hoxie, and Deputies Bowers and Burton. Papers were seized which corroborate the evidence upon which the officers acted, and one of the prisoners has admitted that he was recently an officer in the order, but denies that he is one now. Those already arrested will be removed to the nearest military post, to await the further orders of the war department. [K. G.
