BUTLER COUNTY MISSOURI  bluespring cemetery Copyright 1997, 2001 by Betty Hanks and Terry McLean, tmclean@earthlink.net. ) BLUE SPRING CEMETERY - CARPENTER CEMETERY BLUE SPRING CEMETERY (#97) T26N R73 SEC 26 Map #8u Located north of Fisk, this cemetery is no longer used, but there is evidence that is was a fair sized cemetery. Ken Risinger, whose family is buried there, wrote the following to Betty Hanks in 1986: "... According to Dan Erickson, the forest ranger who lives [near] the cemetery, there are about 50 gravesites there. Most of them, or at least quite a few, are from the CHILDRESS family, which was my mother's maiden name. When I first saw this cemetery back in 1935... I could read only four names chiseled on the headstones of native rock. Mary Ann, my grandmother; Alva, her son, about age 6; James, my grandfather; and Sarah, a daughter, about 20.... I [believe] that my great-grandparents [Major L. and Sabra (LONG ) CHILDRESS ] are buried at Blue Springs, as well as [several of their descendants]..."
