At one time the cemetery covered an acre or more, but now it is impossible to distinguish many of the graves. Many of the stones that can be found are no longer legible. John Levi CARPENTER md Elizabeth KEENER CARPENTER. They came from Lincoln Co., NC to settle in what was then Wayne Co., MO along with other members of the CARPENTER and KEENER families.The CARPENTER family origins are in Switzerland, where the family name was ZIMMERMAN. It may be assumed that John Levi CARPENTER is also buried here, although no stone bearing his name can be found today. John & Elizabeth had 9 children: Sarah E., Margaret K., Henry A., John W., Ephriam R., James M., Joseph, Lucy Ann, & Susan E..
