This is a small family cemetery. 
Several graves are marked only by field stones, 
many no longer have legible inscriptions. 
Some information has come from other sources.

In 1979 Henritta King provided the following information about the MELTON family:

“Children of John Henry & Gemimah Melton are: 

· William b. Sweet Water , IN., md. Butler Co. MO, Sarah Baker;

· Edward b. Menard County IL.;

· Leroy;

· John W. md. 17 Aug 1899, Butler Co., MO,  Janie Fredona Fentress;

· Thomas;

· Flora;

· Adaline;

· Leuelia;

· Rosse (fe);

· Leonard;

· Henritta.

All of these children were born in Menard Co., IL, 
with exception of first child,William. 
The family came to Butler county after 1880 as they	
are listed on the 1880 census in IL. John H. & Gemimah were my grandparents - 
they purchased  a lot of land in this  area. They were the parents of 17 children, 
12 of whom they raised to adulthood. 
The marker  of Walter NEWTON, who was a nephew to my mother, 
was in another cemetery near there which was bulldozed. 
A friend found this marker and brought it to me, knowing he was a relative, 
and I placed his stone with others of my family.”
