Served in the C.C.C. camp from 1937-1939 and the United States Army from 1941-1943. He then moved to Poplar Bluff, MO.  He was united in marriage to Ruby CAIN  on 5 Aug 1948. Born Aberdeen MS, the thirteenth child of fifteen born to Wade and Mary BUCHANAN. Five siblings preceded him in death. He married 23 Jun 1928 to Mattie Ann BUTLER and three children born to this union. One child, Mary Evelyn, preceded him in death. Rev. BUCHANAN died in E. St. Louis IL after becoming ill at his home. GATLIN, Rebecca (HANNICK) WHITE  11 Aug 1909-22 Sep 1990 Born Neelyville, MO to the late Jessie and Callie HANNICK, the eldest of eighteen children, all whom preceded her in death. She married to the late Charlie WHITE, to this union two children were born, her daughter preceded her in death. Later she marries the late Rev. E.S. GATLIN. She departed this life in St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She leaves to mourn a son Leon White, two grandsons, St. Louis, MO one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter, Poplar Bluff, MO. A sister and two brothers   preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Ruth Evelyn GLADNEY and Antonia L. GLADNEY both whom preceded him in death,. She was a retired schoolteacher having taught in Poplar Bluff Schools 42 years. On 17 April 1940 she married to Iowa Bryant GLENN, who passed away in 1952. Survivors include one brother Carter COOLEY Smith, Durhan N.CR, sister Mrs. Chauncie Grace SMITH, St. Louis, MO and Mrs. Loretta Randolph HINTON of the home. They moved to MO in 1928, on 11 Jan 1930 he was  united in marriage with Flora FIELDS to this union eleven children were born, two sons preceded him in death, Elmer and Henry.  He worked for Missouri Pacific railroad till he retired. He moved to Providence, MO in 1969, he leaves to mourn Mrs. Harden and thirteen children, sons J.C. To this union were 14 children born.  In 1923 they moved to Huntersville MO. In 1938 he purchased 40 acres near Poplar Bluff.
