Located:  on the north bank of Shoal Creek, in what is now Fairview 
Township.


The 17 Mormons killed in the Haun's Mill massacre, Oct. 30, 1838 were:

            BENNER, Elias,  b. Jun. 5, 1795

            BYERS, John

            CAMPBELL, Alex

            COX, Simon

            FULLER, Josiah

            HARMER, Augustine

            LEE, John

            LEWIS, Benjamin

            McBRIDE, Thomas,  aged 78y   (Soldier of the Revolution)

            MERRICK, Charles,  aged 9y

            MERRICK, Levi N.

            NAPIER, William

            RICHARDS, George S.

            SMITH, Sardius,   aged 10y

            SMITH, Warren

            YORK, John


They were buried in an old well near the place of their death.
