HINES CEMETERY, Caldwell Co., MO (Also known as the Carr or Arey Cemetery) Rockford Township -- Section 2, Township 55, Range 29 Located: 1.8 miles South of Mirabile on D blacktop, then east on gravel at curve for .7 mile. The cemetery is on the north side of the road, when you come to a T intersection. It is hard to find families much older than the Hines family in Caldwell County. Old Wesley Hines entered land here in 1836, before the county was organized. His farm being SE of Mirabile in Rockford Township. Wesley married Elizabeth Davis, the only sister of Albert G. Davis, founder of Hamilton, in Howard County, Mo. in 1818. It is possible that because of her, her two brothers, Albert G. & Thos. Coulson Davis, came here. Wesley (1795-1858) and his wife Elizabeth (1800-1875), as well as other members of the family were buried on their own land in what is called the Hines Cemetery. Probably, the first burial there, being an infant son of theirs; buried in 1842. Humphrey Beckett (1813-1859), who had married Mary Elizabeth Hines, a daughter of Wesley, settled in this area about 1839 and both are buried along with several of their children, in this cemetery. Another early settler, who is buried here is John C. Myers (1808- 1862) who was a native of Pa. but came to Missouri in 1840. He was sheriff of the county when the second courthouse burned in Apr. 1860. Mr. Myers, sympathized with the confederate cause and went South. When he returned in the fall of 1862, the militia fired after him and he was shot down and killed, two miles south of Mirabile. His wife and family fled to Ind. until 1868, when they returned to the Cowgill area. Other early settlers buried in this cemetery are: Elijah Robison of Tennessee, ancestor of all the Robison in the area. He settled here in 1849 and died in 1872, aged 78 years., David A. Carr (1812-1857), Stephen Pollard (1812-1880) and T. Colson Davis. AREY, Infant daughter, d. Jan. 9, 1881 aged 4d Infant daugher, d. Dec. 27, 1882 Infant daughter, d. Oct. 1, 1886 Children of Geo.
