August 24th /70 Mr. John Irvine Dear Uncle, School will commence in about two weeks and I am very anxious to go but I cannot g unless I have the books which I need. I could think of no one to whom I could apply that would be more willing to assist me than yourself. If you could spare me the sum of $10.00 ten dollars which I think would be sufficient to procure the books I should be very much obliged to you indeed, and hope the time is not far distant when I shall be able to return it. Let me hear from you as soon as possible. I am as ever, your affectionate niece.
