I just had a letter fromm your mother in which she said she had sent her family record to you. Will you please send me names of your grandfather & great grandfather and as far back as you can, will give you mine. Isac COWAN was father, Benjamin F. COWAN grandfather, Henry F. COWAN gr.grandfather, David COWAN gr.gr.grandfather; this goes back 83 years before the Revolutionary War. If you have anything that will take us back to 1st that come from England, send it. Do you know anything of New York Estate? Do you know Joseph COWAN ? & what his P.O.? I have been writing to some of the relations so we will get aquainted if we don't get anything from the estate. I have been sick for for some time but getting well again. I have one of the prettiest little girls you ever saw in yore life. It is 5 weeks old. I call it LAURA JANE. It is dry here at the time, the corn is suffering for rain but the wheat is good., there is a great deal of sickness now too. Tickle KNOX is dead. he died with the fever. BURTON has got well & gone to working like a man. DERRIT & Saly is fat as pigs. BENNY you say that you are coming to see me I am glad to hear that. I don't know I will behave myself when I see you coming. BURTON says he wishes you was here now. If you come and stay awhile with me. I will go home with you. I hope you will come and see us. I do want to see you all so bad. I think you will like this place for one can make a heap of money if they try. BENNY you must send me your likeness to look at. I would like to see it, you and LOCK have yours made together and send it to me if you please. DICK sends his love & best wishes to you & LOCK too, and says he would like to see you both, give my love to LOCK, tell him to he must write to me too. MENY & BURTON sends love to you and I give my love and best wishes and I do hope the day comes I will see you.
