Will of Abner Hope, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri March 17, 1835 In the name of God Amen. I, Abner Hope, of the County of Cape Girardeau and State of Missouri, being of perfect mind and memory, and reflecting on the uncertainty of this mortal life, do make and ordain this as my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife all my estate which shall include money, lands and property of every kind, for her to dispose of as she may consider right and just with the exception of what I have given to those of my children that are married, that is David Crawford Hope, Jane Henderson, and Sarah Queary. I also except three hundred dollars which I desire shall be equally divided between the rest of my children to wit: Katherine Hope, Jemima Hope, Robert Allison Hope, Elizabeth Hope, Margaret McKee, Tirzah Hope and Melissa Hope. It also my desire that James McKnight Woods have the plantation or what it may sell for, lying in Rowen County, N. Carolina. Now I trust and hope that the good sense and prudence of my beloved wife, will lead her to make a fair and just division among my children. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, this 17th day of March, 1835 - Abner Hope Signed and acknowledged in the presence of Jacob Markert ==================================================================== Copyright.
