Edward Fassel, Co. K-8th Mo. Infantry He enlisted in Cape Girardeau, and got out at Jefferson Barracks. He lived in Cape Girardeau from Girardeau from 1853-1867 (with exception of Civil War duty) and then moved to Wittenberg, Missouri (Perry County) What is fascinating to me is he was documented to be Roman Catholic and all his children were baptized as such (I have the records) and the last child was born 5 months after he died and was also baptized as Roman Catholic. He was buried at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Missouri (Perry County). 1833-Born--- Baden, Baden Germany Oct 24, 1853—arrived NY on Manchester (age 20) July 2, 1860—in Cape Girardeau Census (age 26) Dec 8, 1860—married Mary Friedonvald June 27, 1860—Enlisted in Cape Girardeau County, Home Guard August 1, 1861—Enlisted in 8th Reg’t Missouri Infantry in Cape Girardeau, Mo.(age 27) August 17, 1861—Mustered in to 8th Reg’t Company in St. Louis, Mo.
