Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Bates, Lillie Rose d. November 30, 1950 Source: LILLIE ROSE BATES Lillie Rose Shultz, daughter of Vienna and James Mullen Shultz was born March 19. 1867, in Cain County, Ill., and passed away at her home in Hale, Missouri, Thursday morning, Nov. 30, 1950, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 12 days. She was one of a family of eight children and at the age of five years the family moved to Livingston county and settled on a farm a mile north and half mile west of Grace church. At the age of twenty years she was united in marriage to Samuel Nelson Bates of Bedford, Missouri, who preceded her in death Oct. 31st, 1936. They made their home in Bedford for a number of years, later moving to Hale where they spent the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Bates was a faithful member of the Hale Methodist Church, teaching a class of young people for many years and later was secretary of her own adult class for twenty years. She leaves to mourn her passing six children. They are Miss Oleta Bates, Mrs. Myrtle Stanley and Murl Bates of Hale; Lee M. Bates, Kansas City, MO., Mrs. Frances Dulaney of Laclede, MO., Ernest Bates, Sumner, MO., one brother, Elmer J. Shultz, Stanfield, Oregon; a number of nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
