Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Calvert, Louise Matilda d. January 8, 1948 Source: Carrollton Daily Democrat January 8, 1948 Thursday page 1 Mrs. G. E. Calvert died at 3:20 am Thursday at the Staton Clinic of burns suffered Tuesday about 2:45 at her home east of Wakenda. While she was standing beside the stove at her home, her dress was sucked into the lower part of the stove and ignited. She was brought to the clinic here immediately. The former Louisa Matilda Wheeler, daughter of Levi and Sarah Wheeler, was born in Pike county, near Curryville, on 6 Jan 1900. She came here as a small child and had made her home here since. In Sept, 1936, she was married to Mr. Calvert. Surviving besides the husband are her mother; four brothers, Warren Wheeler of Vandlai, George Wheeler of Carrollton, Dan Wheeler and Levi Wheeler, Jr, of Bogard; and six sisters, Mary Wheeler of the home, Mrs. Ethel Brotherton of Carrollton, Mrs. Sylvia Brotherton of near Wakenda, Mrs. Daisy Staton of Bowdry, Mrs. Dorothy Adkins of Kansas City and Mrs. Christine Cowick of Wakenda. She was a member of the Church of Christ. The body is at the Standley-Gibson Funeral Home and will be taken to the home of Mrs. Orville Cowick on Friday afternoon and will lie in state there until 2 p.m. Saturday, the hour of the funeral at the Church of Christ in Wakenda.
