Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Creel, W.R d. about 1892 Source: DEATH OF W. R. CREEL W. R. Creel, an old and highly respected citizen of Hale, died Thursday night last, at 9 o’clock, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J. W. Holliday, in Carrollton. He was stricken with paralysis three weeks before while visiting his daughter, Mrs. John Yates, at Eldorado Springs, and was brought to Carrollton a week later where he took the typhoid fever from which he never recovered. Mr. Creel was born in Adair county, KY., in September, 1816 and was 76 years of age at his death. He was married three times; first, to a Miss McDaniel in 1837, and came to Carroll Co. the same year where he lived until his death. In 1838 his wife and oldest child died on the same day. He afterwards married Miss Margarita Woods, and to them were born five children, all of whom are still living. His last wife, who died some two years ago, was a sister of W. P. Dulaney of this place. He was sheriff of this county from 1848 to 1852 and in 1852 he was elected to the Legislature. Mr. Creel was a devoted and constant member of the Baptist church for 57 years, having joined that church at the age of 19. He was one, and the last survivor, of the ten charter members of the first Baptist church in the Co., organized in Carrollton, August 26th, 1839. In every way he was respected as an excellent citizen; trusted and honored by all who know him. The funeral services were held in the Baptist church of this city last Friday, and were conducted by Rev. Hatcher, of Kansas City, assisted by Rev. West and L. B. Ely, of Carrollton, and Rev. S. W.
