Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Dulaney, Jessie E. d. March 22, 1951 Source: Dulaney, Jessie E. - Obit Mrs. Chas. Dulaney Passes Away at Home of Daughter Last Thursday Morning. Mrs. Chas. Dulaney, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Muck, near Meadville, shortly before six o'clock last Thursday morning after being in failing health for many months. She was truly a pioneer citizen, having spent her entire 83 years of life in this community until being moved to the home of her daughter about two months ago, and made a host of friends who regret her passing. Jessie Elma Thatcher Dulaney, daughter of Caroline Farr and Jessie G. Thatcher, passed away March 22, 1951, at the age of 83 years and 4 days. Born on a farm near Little Compton, Missouri, March 18, 1868, one of nine children, three dying in infancy, her father was killed in an accident, leaving the widowed mother and children. After attending the local school, she graduated from Avalon College at the age of sixteen and taught school until her marriage to Charles Creel Dulaney, December 23, 1888 at the home of her mother in Avalon, The Rev. Howard Davis officiating. They located on the farm 31/2 miles south of Hale, Missouri, where they resided 62 years, then due to failing health they moved to the home a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Muck near Meadville, January 20, 1951, where they enjoyed the comforts and companionship of her home. They were the parents of eleven children, four having preceded her in death. Those surviving her other that the husband are the children: William Lloyd, Charleston, West Virginia, Charles Elbert, Laclede, MO., Everett Clifton and Jessie Elma Nell, Bosworth, Frances Muck, Meadville, MO., Elizabeth Thatcher Martz, Hutchinson, Kans., Lolita Louise Awtry, North Hollywood, Calif. Also one sister, Mrs. Alice Derryberry of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a brother, Fred Thatcher; also 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. To know her was to love her, her creed was to help us play the man, help us perform our duties with laughter and kind faces, for cheerfulness to abound with industry. She with her husband united with the First Christian Church years ago. She was also a charter member of B.W.C. ladies club, being their first president; and was active as long as her health permitted. Her life was her obituary. Due to the health of her husband, short services in her memory were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Much at 12:00pm Saturday, March 24, 1951, followed by services at the First Christian church at Hale, Missouri, at 2:00p.m. Rev.
