Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Graper, Margaret d. July 10, 1946 Source: Norborne, "Democrat Leader" 12 July 1946 Graper, Margaret - Obit GRAPER, MARGARET (nee Stemple) Mrs. Margaret Graper, 80, pioneer citizen of the Norborne Community, died last Wednesday morning, 4:30 a.m., at the home of her daughter Mrs. Fred Schies, in Leavenworth Kansas. In her passing the community loses a loyal, Faithful Christian mother. Mrs. Graper was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Stemple, pioneer citizens of Carroll County. She was born near Norborne on January 24, 1866. In early infancy she was baptized into the Christian faith. After instruction in the chief part of Christian doctrine, she was received into membership with Trinity Lutheran Church, April 17, 1881. On October 22, 1855 she entered into holy estate of matrimony with Mr. Wm. Graper. This union was blessed with 10 children, four of whom remain to mourn the death of their aged mother. After 54 years of happy wedded life, on May 18, 1939, her faithful husband was taken from her side. Mrs. Graper’s health has been growing weaker for sometime. This became evident, especially during the past few years. Yet, with the exception of two serious illnesses, she has always been able to be up and about to make her home with her daughters. About seven months ago she went to Leavenworth Kans. She spent the winter with them. About two weeks ago she decided to return to Norborne for a brief visit. While visiting with her son, she suddenly suffered an heart attack last Friday, a week ago, from which she recuperated quite rapidly. On Monday of last week, her children took her back to Leavenworth with them. The stay, however, was not to be for long, for suddenly, on Wednesday morning she suffered another heart attack from which she was not to recover, for her Maker used it to call her soul out of this vale of tears. She reached the ripe old age of 80 years, 6 months and 9 days. Funeral services were held in Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday afternoon, Rev. O.G. Tiemann, her Pastor, officiating, who spoke on "The two-fold Gain of The Christian." Hymns of faith and hope were sung by a choir. After all present had given a parting glance at the mortal remains of the departed mother, she was laid to rest beside her husband in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, where her lifeless form will await the call of the returning savior. Mother Graper was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Being born three years before Trinity was officially organized of which her father was one of the founding fathers. She was baptized, not doubt by pastor Biltz; confirmed by pastor Sondhous, and married by Pastor Scholz. Besides being an active communicant member, she was also a faithful member of the Ladies Aid unto her death. She leaves to mourn her death two daughters: Mrs. Fred Schies, and Mrs. Agnes Summers, Leavenworth, Kansas, two sons: William and Walter, both of Norborne, Mo.
