Shaeffer Died Wednesday Night, October 31 Again death has entered out midst and has taken a much loved and highly esteemed citizen, Mrs. P. A. Shaeffer, who passed away at her home in Hale early Wednesday night, after an illness extending over many months. Early last spring she suffered a paralytic stroke. Later she recovered sufficiently to be about her home duties. In the early part of September she was again stricken and has been bedfast since. She is survived by two children; a daughter, Mrs. Alva DeBolt of Hale, and one son, Orville, of Chillicothe; two brothers, Will Dulaney of Slater, and C. C. Dulaney of Hale; eight grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Christian church. Interment in the Hale Cemetery. "The Hale Leader" November 8, 1934 MRS. PERRY A. SHAEFFER After a long illness Mrs. Perry A. Shaeffer passed away at her home in Hale, Wednesday evening at 10:15 o'clock, at the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 26 days. Olivia Ruth Dulaney, daughter of William P. and Frances Ruth Dulaney was born on a farm near Hale, March 5, 1857, the eldest of a family of eight children. She was a member of one of the pioneer families of Carroll county and was prominently identified with the early educational and social like of the county. After finishing the country school she attended the Kirksville State Normal and Teacher's College from which she graduated, afterwards teaching in the country schools of her home community. November 22, 1883 she was united in marriage with Perry A. Shaeffer. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Shaeffer established their home on a farm south of Hale, where they resided for many years, later moving to Hale. Mr. Shaeffer passed away July 28, 1931. When a young girl Mrs. Shaeffer was converted and united with the Christian church at Battsville, later becoming a charter member of the congregation at Hale. She is survived byone son, Orval W. of Chillicothe, one daughter, Ruth DeBolt of Hale, three brothers, William P. Dulaney, of Slater, Charles C.
