Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Smith, Archibald J. d. December 27, 1909 Source: "Republican Record" Thursday, Dec 30, 1909 Smith, Archibald J. - Obit Archibald J. Smith, aged 78 yrs, died on Monday morning of this week, at his home, 3 miles northwest of Carrollton. Mr. Smith was born in Augusta, GA May 24, 1831. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Tennessee, here he remained until 1857, then he moved to Missouri, and resided here for nine years. He moved back to Tennessee, but in 1881, he returned to Missouri, and continued to reside here until his death. In the month of October, 1857, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Maupin, and 11 children were born to them. Mr. Smith was always a very pious man, and in early life he was converted and united with the M. E. Church, and remained a faithful member until his death. As a citizen he was of the very best, and all that knew him esteemed him highly. He has been in poor health for many years, but bore his affliction with fortitude, and would laugh and joke with his friends at times about his troubles. He was well known in this county and was esteemed by everyone. He leaves a wife and six children, John T., James F., Mrs. H. D. Smart, Martha A. Johnson, Henry O., and Mrs. Dora Cravens, to mourn his demise.
