He has been sick for several months but not continuously confined to the house. About two weeks ago his condition became more serious and he was forced to go to bed. He was troubled with rheumatism and suffered a great deal. His condition continued to grow worse and Sunday evening the trouble seemed to reach his heart and he died in a short time. He was born on the Mayden farm northwest of Norborne, January 5, 1869 (should be 1896), and with the exception of a year spent in Kansas, he has lived most of his life in the vicinity of Norborne. He was a splendid youth, just entering into manhood's estate, and was respected by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by his devoted parents and by his loving brothers and sisters; and also by the host of friends who appreciated his companionship and his splendid character. Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. D. Tussey, of the Methodist Church, South, were held at his late home Tuesday morning, September 22, at 9 o'clock and a great number was present to pay the last tribute of respect to his memory. The body was taken to beautiful Fairhaven where it was laid to rest to await the resurrection.
