Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Turpin, John Porter d. February 25 Source: Turpin, John Porter - Obit FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN ST. LOUIS John Porter Turpin was born in Saline County, Missouri, March 9, 1866, son of Charles and Molly Turpin. During his early childhood his family moved to Carroll county. Mr. Turpin received his education in the public schools of Carroll county and William and Jewell College at Liberty, MO. While residing in Carroll county he was united in marriage with Betty Dulaney. To this union were born two children, Roma Jones, St. Louis, with whom he made his home, and Floyd Turpin of Kansas City. About the year of 1900 Mr. Turpin and his family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the Christian church, having assisted in the organization of several Christian Sunday Schools. While a resident of Kansas City Mr. Turpin followed the contracting and building profession, continuing in this work until a few years before his death. Those who know him always considered him a fine person, full of character and humor. Other than his son and daughter, he is survived by two sisters Ada Staton of Kansas City, Kans., and Marie Clark of Baldwin Park, Calif., and five grandchildren, Grac Senter of St. Louis; S-Sgt. William Wood, a prisoner of war in Germany; Wanda Margaret Mettes, Richard Turpin of U.S.N.; and Ruby Turpin of Kansas City, and one great grandchild. Mr. Turpin passed away in St. Louis, Mo., Thursday, February 25. The body was brought to Hale Saturday afternoon where funeral services were held in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. T. J. Scahil. Interment was made in the Hale cemetery. Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Turpin and daughter, Ruby, of Kansas City; Richard Turpin, U.S. Navy; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jones, St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Ada Staton, son and wife, Kansas City, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
