Carroll County, Missouri Obituary - Wheeler, Benajmin Franklin d. April 1908 Source: The Republican Record Carrollton, MO Thursday 23 April 1908 Wheeler, Benajmin Franklin - Obit Benjamin Franklin Wheeler was born in Brown County, Ohio 22 March 1840, came to Missouri with his parents at the age of sixteen, where he has since resided. He was married 3 April 1863, to Miss. Augusta A. Simmons. To this union ten children were born, six of whom, with his wife, survive him. He enlisted as a union soldier in 1861, and served to the close in Company F, 18th Mo. Infantry as flag bearer. He was twice wounded in the battle of Shiloh, and never fully recovered. Uncle Ben, as he was commonly called, was a kind and honest old gentleman who will be greatly missed. The funeral was held Thursday at 11 am at the church, conducted by Rev. Dayhoff.
