Hawkins, well known in Cascade thirty-flve years ago, died of heart failure at Harrisonville, Mo., May 21, 1915, at the age of 66 years and 6 months, and the remains were brought to Union township, Plymouth county, Iowa, and laid beside those of his wife and only daughter, who preceded him in death ten years ago. Mr. Hawkins was born in West Virginia and came to Iowa when a young man, and was married to Miss Maggie Croston January 8 1870. Nine years later they removed to Plymouth county and resided there until 1897 when he and his family removed to Harrisonville, Mo. Many old friends here remember Mr. Hawkins as a genial gentleman and regret to learn of his death. Mr. Hawkins was sheriff of Plymouth county for several terms about twenty-five years ago. He is survived by one son, Wm. Hawkins, of Independence, Mo. and seven grandchildren.
