My ancestor, James Louis Devinney, born July 11, 1845 in Louisville, Jefferson County Ky. Enlisted in Company F, 3rd Battalion, Missouri Calvary in Springfield Missouri on 24 December 1861. He served the entire war with the 3rd, and the 1st and 3rd Battalion Calvery,dismounted and combined. Was wounded three times. Was surrendered at Citronelle, Alabama after the battle of Fort Blakeley Alabama, imprisoned at Ship Island, Mississippi, paroled at Jackson, Mississippi. He was in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1870.
