East of Jackson township, was born in Ohio, Pickaway count, October 3, 1835; was educated in the common schools of his state and came to Clark county in 1851. Adopted the occupation of farmer and stock raiser. His success is evidenced by this present large, well kept homestead. In 1857 Mr. East married Miss Clarrisa Clark, and to them have been born ten children, three boys and seven girls. Mr. East served in the First Misouri volunteers and in the Missouri state militia during the war.
