He came to Clark County in 1855, having lived the previous eleven years in St. Louis, MO., and Quincy, Ill. He settled near Winchester. Mr. Knieper has been three times married; the first time in 1846 to Elizabeth Wagner, the second time in 1885 to Mrs. E. Doll, the third time in 1891 to Mrs. Ghering. Mr. Knieper was a member of Capt. Arnold’s state militia during the war. By frugality and industry Mr. Knieper has acquired a competency and is one of the substantial men of Jackson Township.
