Ross of Jackson Township, is a native of Pennsylvania, and was born in 1824. He came west in 1866, bought the present homestead and has resided there ever since. He was married in 1863 to Elizabeth Stephenson, who died in 1894. Mr. and Mrs. Ross had five children, four sons and one daughter, all still at home. Mr. Ross has taken a lively interest in public affaires ever since he came to the county, particularly has he been solicitous in educational matters, and to show their appreciation of him in this respect his neighbors have kept him elected to the office of school directors continuously for the past nineteen years. Mr. Ross is now enjoying the rest he has so justly earned by his past active life.
