A. Crandell, M. Morgan, Jno R. Hume, Orson Suter, F. A. Londenberg, H. E. Sherwood and M. L. Kurtz as treasurer a motion was made and carried to submit a bond issue of $4,500.00 (that being the limit they could vote on) for the erection of a new building. The clerk was ordered to post notices of said election to be held at a regular meeting in April 1910. This day turned out to be a very rainy day, but a fairly large vote was cast and resulted in plans being lid at once for a new building. The public school building was auctioned off to the highest bidder, which was C. M. Waters and Sam Bowman. The college building to Dr. J. A. Swearingen and the foundation of said building to I. M. Well & Co. The sales totaling about $1,000.00. Plus the $4,500.00 was all the money there was for the new building. At this juncture the question was raised whether this sum of money would build a building large enough to meet the need of the future. A live wire by the name of Floyd Wilson was delegated to circulate a petition to raise additional money for a larger building. So faithfully did he work that in less than a week’s time he had raised $3,500.00 by donations. Then the board named W. F. Schragie as architect, who drafted the plans. Plans and specifications were submitted to six contractors. Jno. T. Williford of Kahoka, Mo. being the lowest bidder was awarded the building. Jno. H. Kitchen & Co. of Kansas City, Mo. were the successful bidders on the heating plant. No accidents of any importance during the construction of the building. But all funds were exhausted so extra money was raised to complete the work, even to tinting the walls. Then the question of a well was raised, but there was no money for that. A good Samaritan by the name of Daniel W. Adams hearing of the plight offered a young calf for the cause. F. A. Londenberg proceeded to raffle off this said calf. From this source a’most enough was realized to dig the well. With a little more outside help and money enough was raised that the p????nt well was sunk and pump installed. So the present building was built, which later housed the first Consolidated School in the state of Missouri. Thus we have school opening on schedule with R. M. Hogan as Supt. for the year 1910-1911, the 9th and 10th Grades being added. The superintendent for 1911-1912 was C. M. Wise, this term the Junior year was added. 1912-1913 opened with Geo. V. Baskett as superintendent. In the spring of 1912 the district went from an Independent District to Consolidated District No. 1, also the Senior year was added, thus under Supt. Baskett we have the first graduating class composed of four girls and one boy. In 1913-1914 School opened with G. V. Baskett, Supt. Eight graduations. In 1914-1915 School opened with F. M. Beach as Superintendent. Eight graduating. 1915-1916 school opened with Jno. L. Carter as superintendent. Twelve graduating. 1916-1917 school opened with John L. Carter as superintendent.
