The women went on the old theory that to please the men you must have a variety and plenty to eat- it was there. Seven different states were represented and as the requirements for clothing were not extensively heavy that suited all. The beautiful park and surrounding trees the Keokuk citizens furnished were appreciated. Chars. Dienst, assistant state Superintendent of schools from Lincoln, Nebr., born, reared and educated in the Keystone school house and Columbia, Mo. And a classmate of Bennett Champ Clark, was master of ceremonies. Some women strongly objected to speech making because it interfered with their chatter and that was the only incident that put a check on one of the most successful gathering we ever attended. The 3rd Sunday in August for next year was set for the next meeting and extending the territory to the neighboring districts and have as East Clark County Old Settlers of Kahoka can not afford such luxuries in these latter days. All we ask for is another as successful gathering and joyful day as we some 400 consiere this one. Chas. Dienst made it plain that he would be there and why cannot others near attend.
