Fretwell, 77, of 1838 SW Cable Ave., will be held Thursday noon at Caldwell’s Colonial Mortuary. He died at his home Sunday. A native of Kahoka, Mo., he lived for 40 years in the Portland area, the last 17 of which he spent conducting religious services out of his home twice weekly. He served in the Navy on the USS Independence in the early 1900s and until the late 1930s had a license to operate steam vessels. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Hedden of Palm Springs; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery. Additional Comments: Grover is buried at Portland, Multnomah, Oregon. His wife was Flossie Myrtle Maw, 1886-1962. They are buried together.
