Mrs. Laura Hecox, mother of Mrs. W. E. Wilsey, died at the Wilsey home, 311 South Knot Street, Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock March 18.Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon, March 20, at the Gerth and Baskett Chapel, conducted by Rev. W.E. Longstreth. Music will be by Mrs. Longstreth. Pallbearers are Paul Rule, Harry Kirchner, Harold Summers, James Stothard, employees at the locker plant; A.L. Luther and Mayor J. Harold Johnson. Interment will be in the Kahoka cemetery. Mrs. Laura Hecox was the daughter of Albert and Margaret Strong. She was born in Clark County, Missouri, near Wayland, on August 31,1865. She was united in marriage to Samuel Hecox on October 5, 1887, at Kahoka. To this union three children were Born, Mrs. Lutie Wilkinson, of Keokuk; Mrs. Cora Wilsey of Memphis and a son, who died in infancy. Mr. Hecox died January 6, 1913, as a result of an automobile and train accident at Wayland. Following this Mrs. Hecox came to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wilsey and Mr. Wilsey, and was a beloved member of their family for thirty-four years, the last fifteen of which were spent in Memphis. She was in failing health for some years prior to her death. Mrs. Hecox was a member of the Methodist Protestant church in Kahoka and the Rebekah Lodge in Kahoka. She was one of six children and the last to survive. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. W.E. Wilsey, and Mrs. Lutie Wilkinson, one grandchild, Mrs. Louis Buckley, and one great-grandchild, Donna Buckley.
