C--jan 1848-oct 1852, Lds Film 2294581 Written: May 6, 1850 Recorded: May 6, 1850 Letters of Administration for Estate of John Cruse (1814-1850) Clay County, Missouri LDS Film 2294581, Book C, page 85 In Vacation Be it remembered that on the 6th day of May in the year 1850 application was made at the office of the Clerk of the County Court within and for the County of Clay in the State of Missouri for Letters of administration on the estate of John Cruse deceased by Margaret Cruse and she the said Margaret Cruse having given bond with satisfactory security and complied with the requisition of the law, the same are granted her which said bond and letters of administration are in the words and figures following, to wit: Know all men by these presents that Margaret Cruse as principal and William H. Dawson, J. Buxton and John Shouse as security are held and firmly bound unto the State of Missouri in the full sum of Four Thousand dollars, To the payment of which well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Signed and sealed the 6th day of May AD 1850. The condition of the above bond is that of Margaret Cruse Administratix of the estate of John Cruse deceased, shall faithfully administer said Estate, amount for pay and deliver all money and property of said estate, and perform all other things touching said administration required by law, or the order or decree of any Court having jurisdiction, then the above bond to be void otherwise to remain in full force. Letters The affidavit of Margaret Cruse On application for letters of administration on the estate of John Cruse deceased state to the best of her knowledge and belief that the deceased died without a will, and that he left a Widow seven children, to wit: Absalom Cruse, Sarah Cruse, Henry Cruse, Susannah Cruse, Eliza Cruse, Samuel Sheetz Cruse and John Cruse all of whom reside in Clay county Missouri; and furthermore, that she will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all, the estate of the deceased and pay the debts as far as the assets will stand, and the law direct and account for and pay all assets which shall come to her possession of knowledge Margaret Cruse County of Clay SS: The State of Missouri to all persons to whom these presents shall come Greeting; Know ye that whereas John Cruse late of the County of Clay died intestate, as it is said, having at the time of his death property in this State which may be lost destroyed, or diminished in value if speedy care be not taken of the same; to the end thereof, the said property may be collected, preserved, and disposed of according to law, we do hereby appoint Margaret Cruse administratrix of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits, which were of the said John Cruse at the time of his death with full power and authority to secure and dispose of said property according to law, and collect all monies due said deceased, and in general to do and perform all other acts and things which are or herafter may be required of her by law.
