Cambric’s dense weave and superior smooth hard finish made it one of the most popular and versatile fabrics for nearly four centuries. Cambric has been used for many years in the manufacture of handkerchiefs, collars, cuffs, and for fine underclothing; also for the best shrouds, and for fine baby linen. The yarns for this cloth are of very fine quality, and the number of threads and picks often reaches and sometimes exceeds 120 per inch. Embroidery cambric is a fine linen used for embroidery. 2. Vermifuge: An agent that causes the expulsion of worms or parasites from the body. 3. Lawn: A type of fine linen. 4. Camphor: Normally used as anti-itch medicine. 5. Selicia: Cannot find current description but it was advertised with other fabrics in store advertisement in Liberty Weekly Tribune. 6. Copperas: An iron-sulfur substance used in making dyes and inks, a wood preservative, and disinfectant for privies, and possibly most often used as a dye fixative for woolen garments. 7. Salaratus Soda: leavening agent consisting of potassium or sodium bicarbonate 8. Calico: A fabric made from unbleached, and often not fully processed, cotton. It may contain unseparated husk parts, for example. The fabric is less coarse and thick than canvas or denim, but owing to its unfinished and undyed appearance, it is still very cheap. 9. Mrs. Wright is Sarah Cruse, daughter of Margaret and husband of Henry J. Wright. 10. Paste board was used for making patterns for sewing clothes.
