The following are family connections that appeared in The Liberty Tribune, Liberty, Clay County, Missouri during the year of 1886. The date of publication is shown prior to the listed item(s). Jan 8, 1886: Chas. Thornton, a prominent young business man of Warrensburg, and his sister, Miss Fannie, spent several days with Capt. J. d. Ford and family, last week. F.M. Corbin, of St. Louis, was visiting the family of his uncle, Mr. O.H. Corbin last week. Prof. E.J. Jennings, of Farmington, Mo., and late of Liberty, is happy all over. He has a new and pretty ten lb. boy at his house. Miss Lutie Clark, gave a very pleasant party to a number of friends, at the beautiful residence of her father, Mr. Wm. Clark, two miles east of town. Smithville. R.D. Duncan and his accomplished lady, of St. Joseph, spent Christmas week with the latter’s father, Mr. O.H. Corbin. Jan 15, 1886: Miss Katie Edwards (daughter of Dr. R. Edwards) is quite sick, but we trust will soon be up. A doubly happy man. Thos. A. Harsel has twin girls at his house. The new year promises well. Barry. Mrs. McClelland, of Kansas City is visiting her cousin, Miss Anna Jones. Jan 22, 1886: Mr. Lawson L. Dearborn, son of Elder J.A. Dearborn, is visiting his father and family. Arnold Station. Mrs. Richard Barnes was in our village on Monday evening, on her way to Liberty to visit her mother and father Mr. and Mrs. Nall. She was accompanied by her son, Mr. Louis Barnes. Arnold Station. Miss Flora Prather is visiting friends at Lexington, Mo., and her sister, Miss Stella, at Parkville, Mo. Barry. Mr. George May, son of Dr. May, deceased, returned recently from Charles City, Iowa., at which place he has been in business for the past three years. He met with a joyous welcome and in the future will locate in Kansas City as druggist clerk. Jan 29, 1886: Miss Nellie Russell is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Geo. Hughes. Miss Lizzie Allen is visiting her sister, Mrs. Susie Greenlees in Kansas City. Arnold Station. Mrs. Thomas B. Can, of Kansas City, has been visiting her sister Mrs. J.F. Whitaker, this week, accompanied by her pretty little daughters, Flora and Jessie. Mr. Oscar Davidson, one of Clay county’s rising young men, has been at our town this week, visiting his cousins, Mr. R. and L. Davidson. Come again, Oc; our latch string is always fluttering in the breeze. Feb 12, 1886: Miss Ivy Powell, of Kansas City, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Job South. Mrs. Job South has returned from Kansas City, where she has been visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Powell. Mrs. Susie Greenlees has been visiting her parents. Mr. and Mrs. T.T. Allen. She returned to her home in Kansas City last Wednesday. The Tribune was, last week, misinformed as to the especial happiness of MR. Norris Hodges. It was Mr. Taylor Hodges, who rejoices over the arrival of an heir – a fine girl. There is a new son at the Wm. Treff house, and a daughter at Robert Vincents, and yet under these existing circumstances the citizens anticipate high water this year. Feb 26, 1886: Binghamville. Miss Christine Hessel is with her sister Mrs. Stein, at Junction city, Kansas. Smithville. Mrs. J.D. DeBerry and her daughter, Mrs. Gillespie, have been very sick for some time, but are improving. Mar 5, 1886: The relatives of MRs. H.C. Rogers, of Columbia, have enjoyed a visit from that estimable lady for a week past. Her son, Syd., a bright little fellow, accompanied his mother. Bob Shelton of Troy, Mo., formerly a student of Wm. Jewell, was visiting his sister, Mrs. R.B. Semple, this week. Bob’s visits to Liberty are ever welcomed by a host of friends. Binghamville. Buck Dale will move to his mother’s, Mrs. Margaret Boggess. Little Shoal. Miss Lena Ricketts, of Moscow, is visiting her uncle, John Foley, this week. Nebo. Philip Hammel is the happy father of a ten pound girl. Barry. Mrs. Sparks and her sister-in-law, Miss Josie Sparks, were visiting her Saturday and Sunday. Barry. Miss Mamie Funk is in Leavenworth. She will spend a few weeks at her uncle’s Col. Lowe’s, member of the Kansas senate. Acme Springs David Bell and his sister, Mrs. Sallie Thompson, are in Clinton county, with their sister, Mrs. Laura Fugitt, who is dangerously ill. Mar 12, 1886: Binghamville. Mrs. M. Sullivan is visiting her brother, James Reynolds. Mar 19, 1886: Mrs. Jno. H. Price, with her granddaughters, Misses Anna and Mary McCarty, are now comfortably settled in their Woodland home. Miss ----- Buckley, who has been visiting her brother, Dr. W. H. buckley, of this city returned to her home at Fort Smith, Ark., last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Share, of Wellington, Kan., are visiting the latter’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. W.W. Dougherty. Mrs. Share will remain in Liberty about ten days. Pleasant Valley. Bud Hymer has returned home, after having spent the winter with his aunt, Miss Lea Rogers. Arnold Station. Mrs. Annie Sprinkle, of Harlem, has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. John Neal, this week. She returned home on Sunday evening. Mar 26, 1886: Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Greenlees, of Kansas City, spent last Sunday in Liberty with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.T. Allen. Mrs. Wm. M. Burris, of Kansas City, accompanied by her son Master Allen, are visiting her father, Elder A.B. Jones. E.T. Letchworth, of Hiawatha, Kas., a former resident of this county, was visiting his cousin Joe. Barnes, of the Arthur House, a few days since. Bethel. Mr. Newby’s family was increased by the arrival of a little girl last week. Apr 2, 1886: Wm. M. woods and his sister, Mrs. E.B. Dunscombe, of Berkeley, Cal., are visiting the family of their uncle Joseph Groom. Mrs. Dunscombe and Mr. woods were formerly residents of this county, and this is their first visit to their old home after an absence of 12 years. Minnaville. Mrs. Mayfield of Gardner Kas., is visiting her sister, Mrs. Linderman, where she now lies very ill. Dr. Meffert has her case in charge. Apr 9, 1886: Miss Lee Spencer, with her sister and brother, spent the day in Kansas City last Thursday. Their uncle, G.W. Faubion, gave the young ladies, respectively, a gold watch and necklace. They are happy girls, having a piano, organ, and other musical instruments. Pleasant Valley. Mrs. chandler is making her home with A.C. Davidson, since the marriage of her granddaughter Mrs. Robert Ross, nee Miss Minnie Reynolds. Glenwood. Mrs. Wm. Bales, of Kansas City, spent several days week before last visiting her sister, Mrs. Wm. Campbell. Apr 16, 1886: Mrs. C.R. Chinn, of Webb City, Mo., has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Arch. Lincoln, and other relatives of this place for the past few days. The relatives of the family met at Mrs. Lincoln’s Sunday and had a family reunion. Mrs. Chinn having not seen her brother Mr. Sid. Sandusky for over 26 years. Her visit will long be remembered as one of much pleasure. Mr. Zack Barkley of East Bottoms, Kansas City, is visiting his sister Mrs. A.M. Jones. Apr 23, 1886: Mrs. Mattie A. Park is visiting her daughter Mrs. John Dougherty. Smithville. John Williams and family, of Willamette Valley, Oregon, is visiting his father Jas. Williams, of this township. Born last week to Mrs. Ephraim Leoman a boy; also to Mrs. Henry Moore a boy. All are doing well so fare as heard from. Pleasant Valley. Miss Maggie Vandyke, of this neighborhood, visited her sister Mrs. Jake Hymer, of Moscow, last week. Apr 30, 1886: Mr. Elihu Dillingham, of Platte City, is visiting the sick bed of Mr. J.M. Keller, his brother-in-law, near this city. Mrs. Dr. Reddish is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Wilson, near Acme. Rev. Gossett, of Independence, was the guest of this daughter, Mrs. Wm. Downs, Monday. Late arrivals: At the house of Eli Thomason, a girl, Mary Ellen; at the house of Chas. Rexroad – a boy, Grover Cleveland; at the house of Newton Mitchell – a girl, Annie Mable; at the house of Mr. Boles – a boy, John Quincy Adams.
