Jan 13, 1865: On the 7th inst, at the residence of the bride’s father, by President Thompson, Wm. West Esq., to Miss Mary Anna Bell Thompson, youngest daughter of John Thompson, Esq., of Clay county. In this county on the 3rd, by Justice D.J. Adkins, Mr. Jas. Watkins, of Council Grove, Kansas, to Miss Annie Faulkonier, of Clay county. Jan 27, 1865: In this county on the 5th of January, 1865 by Wm. Warren, J.P., Mr. John W. Moore to Miss Nannie A. Corum, all of Clay co’ty. Feb 3, 1865: In this county, on Sunday last, by Elder, Henry Hill, Mr. Lindsay T. Petty to Mrs. Lucy T. Price, all of Clay county. In this county on the 29th ult., by Joseph R. Cooper, Esq., Wm. Rohrer, Esq., to Miss E. A. Stephens, daughter of Andrew J. and Martha Stephens, all of Clay county. Feb 10, 1865: On the 2d inst., by Elder N.M. Narramore Mr. Alexander Bridges, to Miss Elizabeth Smith, all of Clay co., Mo. Feb 17, 1865: In this county, on the 28th ult., by President Wm. Thompson, Mr. Handal Vance, to Miss Ruth Ann Scott. In this county on Sunday morning last, by Elder Warder, L.D. Marr, Esq., of Clinton county to Miss Emma Warren, daughter of William Warren, Esq., of Clay. Mar 3, 1865: In this county, on the 26th ult., by President Thompson, Berryman Shaver, Esq., to Miss Nannie M. Soper. Mar 10, 8165: On the 8th inst., at the residence of the bride’s step-father, (Prest. Thompson) by Elder Asa N. Bird, Lafayette Evans, Esq., to Miss Rachel Payne, all of this county. That your journey through life may be pleasant and sweet, That the choicest of blessing may each of you greet That the smiles of kind Providence may abide with your ever, That darkness and clouds may o’ershadow them never. Mar 17, 1865: In this county on the 9th inst., by Eld. Asa N. Bird, John L. Hodges, Esq., to Miss S.E. Riley, all of this county. Also by the same, and at the same time, Benjamin F. Soper, Esq., to Miss A.A. Riley. The above notices were accompanied by a choice variety of cake, for which the worthy donors will please accept our thanks and best wishes for their happiness through life. Mar 31, 1865: On Thursday, the 23d inst., at the residence of the bride’s father, Rev. C.W. Barrett, by Elder Asa N. Bird, Thomas Paisley, Esq., of Clinton county, to Miss Lou. Barrett of Clay. Cake received. On the evening of he 16th inst., at the residence of the bride’s father, by the Rev. George W. Owen, Thomas C. Deshon, of Buchanan county, formerly of Western Virginia, to Miss Jane Garner, second daughter of James C. Garner, of this county. May they be wafted by the gentle gales Of domestic felicity safely o’er the storms of life. May their days be many – their death that of the righteous. Apr 7, 1865: On the 30th of March, 1865, by Elder James Duval, at the bride’s fathers, Mr. J.H. Picket, to Miss Miriam Warren, all of Clay county, Missouri. May the sun of mid-day, On you shine with brightest rays, No dark clouds intervening To intercept your peaceful ways. May the son of Righteousness Arise to illuminate your way, And welcome you at home in Heaven After life’s eventful day. Friend. On the 30th inst., at the residence of the bride’s father (A.C. Courtney) in the city of Liberty, by Elder T. Montgomery, John M. Maret, son of Judge A. Maret, to Miss Annie J. Courtney, all of Clay co., Mo. On Thursday evening March 30th, at the residence of the bride’s father, by Elder J.W. Luke, Mr. Joel T. Albright, to Miss Sallie J. Cole, daughter of Jesse Cole, Esq., all of Clay county. “As the bow is to the bowstring, So the man is to the woman; Though she bends him she obeys him, Though she draws him yet she follows. Useless each without the other.” (Longfellow’s Hiawatha) May 12, 1865: In this city, on the morning of the 11th by Eld. R.C. Morton, James M. Bland, Esq., to Miss Julia A. Sandusky, all of this county. Accompanying the above notice was a basket of delicious cakes (and we are a good judge) and a bottle of fine wine, for which we return the happy couple our thanks, and wish them a long, happy and prosperous life on earth and an inheritance in the celestial world above when this ???? life is over. “Oh! may the union of their hearts, So brightly and so well begun, Like sea and shore, in all their parts, Appear as twain, but be as one.” May 26, 1865: In this county on Tuesday the 23d inst., by Elder P. Aker, Mr. H.C. Duncan, of Osborn, to Miss Lizzie J. Talbott, daughter of the late John B. Talbott, of Clay. We return our thanks for a quantity of delicious cake. “May peace preside where love shall dwell And all thou aimst at prosper well! And when the time for thee draws near, To leave these sorrowing mansions here, With sainted spirits mayst thou shine, And Heaven’s eternal joys be thine!” Jun 16, 1865: In this city, on the 21st ult., by Eld. Asa N. Bird, Mr. John G. Corum to Miss Sarah M. Courtney, all of this county. Jul 28, 1865: On the 20th inst., by Rev. Asa N. Bird, Mr. J.M. McGinniss to Miss Fannie M. Keitch all of Clay county. [Gold dollar received] Take her but never, never let Thy vows of truth be broken, Nor let her cheeks with tears be wet For harsh words thou hast spoken. A tender heart she gives t thee, And in thy love confiding She hopes her happiness will be, Secure and long abiding. Aug 4, 1865: In this city, on the 27th ult., by Judge Chrisman, Mr. Francis M. Houston, of Lincoln county, to Miss Rachel J. Turner, daughter of E.J. Turner, Esq., of Clay. At the Catholic Church, in this city, on the 21st ult., by Rev. D. Kennedy, Michael Lawlor to Miss Maggie A. McCormack, of Boone. Sep 1, 1865: Married in this county on the 27th inst., at the residence of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Donaldson, by Rev. John C. Keene, Mr. David Horner, to Mrs. Martha Musser, all of this county. Oh joyous was that happy hour, When first I trusted thee; And now it comes to bring once more The happy past to me. But sweeter things than that the past To faithful hearts can prove; It tells them that there is on earth Undying, ardent love. E. H. Oct 13, 1865: On the 3rd inst., by Eld. T. Montgomery, of Buchanan, at the residence of the bride’s step-father, Mr. Archibald Shaver to Miss Martha Whitsitt, all of Clay county. By the same, on the 4th inst., at the residence of Mr. Abner Porter, Mr. Wm. S. Porter, of this county, to Miss Mollie E. Nicholson. Nov 3, 1865: In this city, on the 5th ult., by Rev. R.C. Morton, Greenup Bird, Jr., to Miss Sallie C. Morton, daughter of Dr. W.A. Morton, of this city. Nov 10, 1865: In this city, on the 2d instant, by Eld. R.C. Morton, James A. Gillespie, Esq., to Mrs Alice C. Breeden, all of this city. “May sunshine linger bright and fair, Through life upon their way. Samuel, Pine street, Mr. Edward V. Ringo to Miss Jennie D. Samuel, all of St. Louis. “I saw two clouds at morning Tinged with the rising sun. And with the dawn they floated on And mingles into one.” Dec 1, 1865: In this county, on the evening of the28th ult., by Eld. Asa N. Bird, Mr. Lewis S. Corbin, to Miss Mollie A. Dupoy. Dec 8, 1865: In this county, on the 23d ult., by Elder R.C. Morton, Mr. Geo. D. [Picken?] to Miss Elizabeth Cooper. In Platte county, on the 27th ult., by Elder R.C. Morton, Mr. R. M. Parish, to Miss Eunice C. Smith. In Liberty, on the 7th inst., by Elder R.C. Morton, Mr. James R. Lincoln, to Miss Maggie Bird, daughter of Greenup Bird, Esq. Greenback received! May time in its onward march, deal gently with the young couple – scattering in their pathway all the blessings and comforts of a happy wedded life – harmony, love and prosperity – “gentle words and joying smiles.” May life be sweet as love’s young dreams, When first the mutual faith is plighted, And life in heavenly fullness beam On these young hearts by love united. On the 30th of November, 1865, at the residence of the bride’s mother, by Dr. Mode of Platte City, O’Fallon Dougherty, Esq., to Miss Sallie L. Nutter, both of Clay county. [Cake received} The plighted word – the nuptial vow Still lingers in the air; The wild birds song, and the flowers e’en now Smile round the happy pair May the hue of health – the smile of joy, All draped in beauty’s bloom Be ever yours without alloy, In pleasure and in gloom. At Missouri City, at the residence of the bride’s father, on November 27th, by Rev. R. Livingston, Mr. J.S. Adams to Miss Carrie Houston. In the Baptist Church, in Kansas City, on the 26th day of November, 1865, by the Rev. Mr. Fuller, Mr. Thomas J. Loftin, of Platte county, to Miss Mary N. Minter, of Clay county, Missouri May their lives be long and devoted to God. That they may never ineur his chastising rod. At the residence of William Campbell, Esq., in Gallatin Township, Clay county, Mo., on the 9th day of November, 1865, by J.C. Minter, Justice of the Peace, John M. Fry, Esq., of Platte, to Miss Martha Fry, of Clinton county, Mo. On the 30th of November, at Trenton, New Jersey, by the Rev. Edward W. Appleton, Mr. Enoch R. Hutchinson, of Philadelphia to Mrs. M.L. Young, of St. Louis, Missouri. Dec 15, 1865: In Platte county, on the 27th inst., by Rev. J.J. Wyatt, of St. Joseph, Capt. William A. Vaughan, of Clay county, to Miss Maggie P. Skinner, of Platte county. Cake received. “Peace hath there victories no less renowned than war.” Our friend has gained the victory. Success to you William. Your hearts and souls are now to be one. “connubial love has dearer name, And finer ties, and sweeter claims, Than e’er unwedded hearts can feel, Than wedded hearts can e’er reveal; ---- as the ---------- above, Rise the sweet sympathies of love; And closer cords than those of life, Unite the husband to the wife.” Married, at Christ’s Church, in St. Joseph, on the 4th inst., by Rev. R.H. Weller, Mr. H.M. Garlichs, to Miss Emma Minturn, both of St. Joseph. Dec 22, 1865: At Haynesville, Clinton county, on Thursday evening the 7th inst., by Elder Asa N. Bird, Mr. George W.
