Williams to Miss Sallie Woods. Mr. Editor: In view of the motives which prompt this communication, you will pardon the intrusion and allow me a small corner in the columns of the “Tribune,” to offer a few congratulatory remarks to a happy couple who embarked upon the sea of matrimony on the 20th day of December, 1866. The passengers were Mr. George T. Williams and Miss Sallie Woods, near Barry, Mo. The evening was calm and serene, and although the embarkation was attended with no pomp nor gorgeous display, yet everything betokened a pleasant and happy voyage. The moon rode in splendor through the skies, gilding every object with its silvery beams, and seemed to be emblematical of the Star of Hope, that shall guide the happy couple across the stormy billows of life, and finally pilot them safely into the haven of Eternal Bliss beyond the world. Their steps were firm and their hearts were light, and as they stepped upon the deck their faces beamed with joy; and their eyes brightened with hope, and many were the cordial grasps of the hand and sincere wishes for their future welfare, as they launched their “Fairy Bark,” for the life long voyage. May they have a happy and prosperous voyage attended with all the blessings that Heaven can bestow, and may God by the Pilot, who shall conduct them safely into the peaceful haven beyond the shores of time. “Hortense D. May their lives flow along in an ever ebbing tide of pleasure. May they continue to drink of the crystal fount of truth and goodness.
