Mr. Editor: In your issue of the 31st ult., under the hear of dispatches from the capital you published a notice of my marriage to Mrs. Mary Louisa Clark, widow of Dr. Clark and daughter of Judge G.W. Miller of Jefferson City, which is a mistake. The correct notice was published in your paper, I believe, November, 1848, when I was married to Miss Rebecca M. Seltzer, with whom I celebrated my silver wedding on the 9th of last November, and who with our children and grandchildren still live with me in Leavenworth, Kansas. As it might trouble many of her friends in your city as well as my own, to think either that she was dead or I turned Mormon, I will be obliged if you will contradict the report of my marriage. Married at the residence of the bride’s father near Liberty, on Tuesday eve., Feb. 3, 1874, at 8 ½ o’clock, by Rev. W.R. Rothwell, Mr. R.J. Sarah Jan is the only female we ever heard of who wasn’t afraid of Bug(f)s. Feb 20, 1874: Married, on Tuesday evening 17th inst., at his residence, by Eld. Asa N. Bird, Mr. B.F. Matthews and Miss Maggie Wallis , both of Clay county. Greenback received. Our young friends have our best wishes for happiness and success in life. Vincel, of the Methodist Church was married in Columbia on the 30th ult., to Miss Emma Norwood, daughter of Prof. Norwood. Aug 28, 1874: Married. – On the 10th inst. 5 o’clock P.M. at the altar of the M.E. church South, Mr. Eugene K. Fritzlen to Miss Mollie Bean, both of this city. Officiating clergyman, Rev. Mr. Dockery, presiding Elder of this district. No cards. The nuptial ceremonies were witnessed by a large number of friends of the happy twain. Immediately after the benediction, Mr. and Mrs. Fritzlen took the north bound train for Chicago, or some other cool place – probably the latter. – Plattsburg Register. Marriage of a Middle-Aged Pair. Clinton County Sends Greeting, Etc., Etc. – Ed. Trib.: - Yesterday was exciting day at Providence Church, owing to a wedding that took place there. Mr. Ed. Lindsey and Mrs. Lizzie Clause, of Clinton county, aged, on the sunny side of forty-five, were present during the services in our church, and after partaking of the Lord’s Supper with the church, the table being suddenly lifted to one side by our good Deacons, and Mr. Wm. Picket and lady, of Clinton county, walked back and escorted the candidates for matrimony, covered with blushes, forward to the pulpit, where Bro. Bird met them, and in a beautifully worded, and brief moment, tied the happy pair as he said for life. Demetrius. Sep 4, 1874: Married, on the 31st ult., by Elder Jas. M. Archer, to Miss Susie A. Crockett, daughter of Thomas T. Crockett, Esq., and a grand-daughter of the late David Crockett, one of the first settler of Clay county. Married, on Tuesday morning Sept 8th, at his residence, by Eld. Asa N. Bird, Mr. John Covington, and Miss Ella Moberly. Married, on the 8th inst., at the Christian Church, Kearney, Mo., by Rev. T.H. Morgan, of Stanly, Kansas, to Mrs. Susie Shewev, daughter of Capt. John W. Younger. Married on the 17th of Sept., at the Baptist Church, in Utica, by Eld. W.T. Fleenor, Mr. Thomas B. Clark, of Clay county, Mo. Dollar received: also cake. We wish the couple much happiness. They deserve it. It has been love at a distance with them for years; yea, the groom says he has loved her since they were children, and he never could muster courage to tell her so. Now, after over twenty years ????? the golden shores of the Pacific, he returns, speaks the fated words, and they are married and are now speeding over the iron rail to their distant home. Share, of Independence, Kansas, to Miss Ella Dougherty, of Liberty. Married on Thursday, Oct. 29th, 1874, by Elder Asa N. Bird, Mr. V. Smith and Miss Mary A. Creek, daughter of Killion Creek, Esq. Married, by Elder Asa N. bird, on Nov. 1st, at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. Willis Sharp, near Big Shoal, Mr. A.H. Mails and Miss Mattie A. Sharp, both of Clay. From Barry, MO. Married, Oct. 22, 1874, at the mansion of the bride’s father, by the Rev. Walter Schenck, of Westport, Miss Mattie V. Gartin, to Mr. James M. Barnes. A very large, sparkling company witnessed the Union of the happy twin, and your correspondent enjoyed the cake intended for the printer, with a drink of simon- pure to his health. Don’t you feel better by it? May their path be strewn with flowers and the sunshine of life ever be as bright as now. Clarion. Married, Oct. 29th, at the residence of the bride’s father, by Elder Josiah Waller, Miss Dora Couch, of Platte co., to Dr. ----- Rogers, of Lee’s Summitt, Jackson county, Mo. The happy pair started immediately for New York City, where the Dr. designs spending the winter in attendance on the Medical College, and with his handsome bride enjoy the honey-moon amid the glitter of fashion and luxury of the great city. Dec 11, 1874: Married, near Mo. city, on the 24th November, 1874, by Rev. S.H. Carter, Mr. Nathaniel Silvey to Miss Emma Jackson, both of Clay. W.D. rice, Jr., was married in Richmond to Miss Lizzie Duvall, on the 3d inst. Dec 18, 1874: Married on Wednesday evening the 17th inst. by Elder A.B. Jones, Mr. J.M. Sandusky, to Miss Susie Talbot, all of Clay. Married in Parkville, Tuesday, December 8th by Elder Asa N. Bird, Mr. Jno. N. Packard of Kansas City, and Miss Nannie Summer. Married in Buchanan county on the 26th Nov., Mr. Thos. Kincaid to Miss Flora Gartin. Dec 25, 1874: Married on the 15th Dec. 1874, by Rev. A.B. Jones, Mr. D.K. Bogy and Miss Amanda Keller, all of Clay county. Married, near this city, on Tuesday evening, December 22d, by Rev. D. Coulter, H.F. Simrall, Esq., and Miss Mattie Denny, daughter of Mr. John A. Denny. Married, in the Christian Church, in Sedalia, on the 17th inst., by Edler G.W. Longan, Maj. Wm. Gentry, (late people’s candidate for Governor) and Mrs. Eva Witcher, of Sedalia and vicinity. No Kards, No kake, no Kompliments; still we most sincerely wish that the Major and his bride may find that full fruition in each other’ slove, of which sages have written and poets have sung. Major Gentry is worthy of a good wife, and she is worthy of a good husband, and their many friends will follow them with their rich benisons through life’s tortuous windings. – Sedalia Democrat. The bride resided in Liberty about 1848-9, and was the wife of Willaim A. Witcher, a lawyer of considerable ability, and who distinguished himself in the Confederate army in Virginia, by reckless daring and bravery.
