Marrid, in Clinton county on the 13th inst., Mr. Silas Tartar, and Miss Lorinda J. Reynolds, of Clay co. Feb 1, 1878: Married, in Washington township, on the 24th Jan., 1878, by Rev. Jos. Devlin, Mr.—McGaw, of Ray county, and Miss Mollie Hurt, of Clay co. Married. And still they come! Cupid has again so directed his arrow as to cause the strong heart to bow at the shrine of loveliness, for on the eve of the 29th inst., at the residence of Mr. J.M. Roberts, the bride’s grandfather, Mr. Augustus Crowly, led Miss Fannie Roberts too the matrimonial altar, and there in the presence of Elder W.T. Campbell, and other witnesses, they pledged themselves to recognize each other as man an wife. The groom is shrewd and energetic, the bride is young and fair, a devoted Christian and the object of many fond hopes. Feb 15, 1878: Married near this city, on the morning of the 13th inst., by Elder A.B. Jones, Mr. John J. Skillman, of Platte, to Miss Sallie C. Thomason, daughter of the late Wm. M. Thomason. Married, recently, near Mo. City, by Rev. S.H. Carter, Mr. Jos. Lingenfelter and Miss Mollie E. Sharp. Married on the 7th inst., by Elder G.W. Stout, at the residence of Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes, Mr. Peter W. Hughes and Miss Frances E. Hooper, all of Clay co., Mo. Feb 22, 1878: Married, at the residence of A.C. Davidson, Esq., near Liberty, on Wednesday evening Feb. 20th, 1878, by ---------, Mr. L.A. Davidson, and Miss Fanny Reynolds. The Tribune extends congratulations, and trusts that much happiness may be the lot of the newly wedded pair. Married, at his residence on the 10th inst., by Elder Asa N. Bird, Mr. Geo. P. Piburn and Miss Lou Callerman; also, Mr. Frank White and Miss Florence Writesman. Mar 1, 1878: Married near Minneville on the 21st inst., by Rev. Josiah Waller, Mr. Hardin Foster to Miss Callie Gibbons – both of Clay co. Married, at Newton, Kansas, on the ---th inst., Mr. T.P. Neal, a student of Wm. Jewell College, and Miss Mollie McQuitty, of the former place. Mar 8, 1878: Prof. A.J. Emmerson tied the silken knot for Mr. B. Frank Estes, and Miss Maggie Marr, at the residence of bride’s father, Deacon J.C. Marr, last Thursday eve., the 28th ult., in the presence of a number of relatives and friends. The pleasure of the occasion was spoiled to some extent by a “charivari.” Boys, take the advice of an old friend, and leave off such sport in the future. You do not know what an annoyance it is to your friends; besides, it generally brings about anger, and ill feeling, and is not promotive of good in any way. Do you hear boys. Married, in Columbia, on the 14th ult., by Rev. N.L. Ford, of St. Louis, Mr. Sydney K.K. Smith, of the latter place, and Miss Annie H. Stephens, of the former, daughter of James H. Stephens, Esq. Mar 15, 1878: On Thursday, March the 7th at 12 o’clock abut eighty invited guests assembled at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. Thomas Martin, to witness the marriage ceremony of Miss Maggie Martin to Mr. James Morland, of Denison, Texas. The silken knot was tied by Rev. Taylor, of the Christina church from Kansas City, in a very impressive manner; as soon as the ceremony was over the happy pair received the hearty congratulations of their numerous friends. Dinner was next on the programme – everything good that the rich soil of Clay County could produce, as well as a bountiful supply of good and sweet things imported, was served in good taste and excellent style. After dinner the young folks entertained and amused themselves with vocal and instrumental music. The old folks enjoyed themselves in their own way, relating anecdotes and thrilling sketches of pioneer life. The occasion was most pleasant and enjoyable, and will be long remembered by all. The happy couple left the old home in the evening for Kansas City, from thence they will go to their new home, Denison, Texas. Mar 22, 1878: Married, on the 14th inst., at the residence of the bride’s father, by Elder T.W. Todd, of Clinton county, Mr. Robert Lilly to Miss Julia A. Williams. Fashionable Marriage. Editor Tribune: - It was my good fortune on Thursday night, March 14th to witness a marriage ceremony at the Presbyterian Church in Liberty – Rev. Coulter officiated. The Groom was Mr. H.W. Harris, of Lexington, Mo., The Bride Miss Mollie McPheters, of Liberty, and daughter of Rev. W.C. McPheters. The Groomsmen were Messrs Wm. Newlee, of Liberty and Dr. Harris of Lexington. The bridesmaids, Misses Clara Miller and Katie P. Reed, both of Liberty. The ceremony was perform by Rev. D. Coulter in his neatest and happiest style. All parties were neatly and handsomely attired as was fit for the occasion. Immediately after the ceremony the happy couple took their departure for Lexington, by way of Kansas City. The good wishes of many friends follow them. May their two lives in pleasure unite, Forever embalmed in love’s true light, Let them from pains and sorrow be free Although Harrised Miss Mollie must be. Mar 29, 1878: Married, in Clay county, on the 27th inst., by Elder James Duvall, Mr. M.B. Alder, and Miss Mattie A. thorp, daughter of Judge Jos. Thorp, both of Clay. Married, March 21, 1878, at the residence of Mr. Wm. Stephens, the bride’s father, by Elder W.T. Campbell, Mr. Jas. Nolans, formerly of N.Y., and Miss Bell Stevens. Attendants – R.B. Forman and Miss Mattie Stephens, and L. Cave and Miss Linnie Harris. Apr 5, 1878: From Claytonville: Well, it happened, sure enough. One of the most pleasant affairs that has occurred in a longtime in Clay county, happened at Mr. James Levi’s last Thursday night. Mr. George Lingenfelter and Miss Queen Levi were united in matrimony – Mr. James Hart and Miss Bell Shouse were the attendants. Elder S.H. Carter, officiating. The house was well filled with smiling faces. Uncle Jim had his long table well laden with all the good things that could be had, and every thing passed off nicely, and all seemed to enjoy themselves well. May happiness and prosperity attend Mr. and Mrs. Lingenfelter. This is the ninth couple that Elder Carter has married recently. We suppose he is in good practice and ready at short notice. Married, Thursday afternoon, March 21st, at the residence of the bride’s mother near Blue Mills Ferry, Mr. Jas. Rigley, late of Ohio, to Miss Mary E. Skidmore. Married, March 28th, at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. James Levi, by Rev. S.H. Carter, Mr. George Lingenfelter and Miss Queen D. Levi – all of Clay county. Apr 12, 1878: Two More Young People Made Happy. – On last Thursday eve., the 4th day of April, quite a number of young people, and some old ones, assembled in the parlor of Mr. Robert Frazer, to witness the marriage of Mr. George Mercer to Miss Anna Frazer, both of Clay county. Mr. Mercer was attended by Messrs. Hun Broadhurst and James Donaldson – Miss Anna had selected Miss Mollie Barber, of Kansas City, and Miss Maudy Mercer, of Clay. Married, March 30th, at the residence of the bride’s father, by Elder Duvall, Mr. Leonidas Darby and Miss Callie Collins, daughter of Mr. Simeon Collins, both of Clay co. The above marriage took place several weeks ago, but the first we heard of it was through the lamentations of an old widower. We now publish it for spite in not furnishing us the names and dates at the time. Married, on the evening of the 4th of April, b the Rev. G.B. Wright, at the residence of the bride’s mother in Gallatin Township. Col. Wm. B. Morris and Miss Mattie Wason, both of Clay county. Well, Col. you’ve been a good time finding her, but have done well, and the Tribune sends congratulations. Neighbors say that the grange, greenback and fine stock questions have now all lost their charms, and that he only finds joy and peace in the presence of his handsome and sparkling wife. How men do change? Apr 19, 1878: Providence Hash: Had another wedding lately. Mr. John Warren to Miss Rebecca Stevenson, daughter of Jno. C. Stevenson, by the Rev. Wm. Warren. Success and happiness attend them on life’s journey. Apr 26, 1878: Married, by N.B. Bush, Justice of the Peace, on the 14th April, 1878, Mr. James E. McConnell and Miss Caroline Shackelford – all of Clay county. May 10, 1878: Hymenial. Thursday, May 2d, Mr. Jefferson J. Park, of Platte county, and Mrs. Victoria DeCamp, of Shawnee county, Kansas, were married by Rev. H.H. Loring. The ceremony was brief and impressive, there being nobody present except the relatives of the bride and a few intimate friends of both, among whom were Hon. R.T. Darnall and lady of Platte City. Immediately after the ceremony was performed, Mr. and Mrs. Park took the K.P. train for Platte county, their future home. Arrived at Platte City, they were warmly greeted by a score of friends who were in waiting at the depot and in town, and the bridal party immediately proceeded to the residence of Mr. Park, four miles east of Platte City, where a large number of friends were congregated to welcome the wedded pair and extend to them the right hand of fellowship. Irminger to Miss Maria Small, and Mr. Jessie Stone to Miss Sallie Poe. Just think of it, Mr. Editor, two weddings here, all at once and at the same time. They have our best wishes. May harsh words never mar that peace and love which are so essential to a happy union. Jun 14, 1878: Married on the 9th day of June, 1878, by N.B. Bush, Justice of the Peace, MR. Harvey Brown to Miss Susan Lee Ebertz, of Clay county, Missouri. Married at the Presbyterian church, in Pleasant Hill, on the 5th inst., by Rev. A.W.Clover, Prof. James B. Tate, of Liberty, Mo., and Miss Callie H. Cordell, daughter of H. Cordell, of former place. Forest Grove Items. Not much news, only a runaway took place last Sunday, and that in bright daylight – Miss Susie Ebertz and Mr. H.Brown. We wish the happy couple much joy, and hope their love will last forever. Jun 21, 1878: Capt. Geo. C. Bingham was married in Kansas City on Tuesday, to Mrs. Dr. Lykins, principal of the Orphan’s Home. Jun 28, 1878: Married near this city, on the 26th inst., MR. Garrett Best to Mrs. Nannie Frick – all of Clay county. Jul 5, 1878: Married, July 1st, 1878, by Elder Wm. Warren, Mr. Ira Peters and Mrs. Mary Ann Harris – all of Clay county. Jul 12, 1878: Missouri City Items: On the 26th of June Mr. H. Calvert and Miss Nannie Moore, were married. On the 7th of July Mr. Ely Lingenfelter and Miss Lou Yates – all by Elder Carter. Jul 19, 1878: Married, by Rev. J.W. Like, on Sunday July 14th, at the residence of Levi Chowning near Lathrop, Mo., Prof. R.B. Elliott, of Cameron, Mo., to Miss Amanda Mott, of Clinton county. Aug 30, 1878: Mr, Wylie C. Snail, of Leavenworth, Kan., and Miss Rosa S. Mizner, of Nicholasville, Ky., were married on the 18th of July after a courtship of thirty-four years. Now, here is an opportunity to remark that it took Snail a good Wylie to make up his mind; or that he conducted the courtship true to his name at a Snail’s pace; and then he came near Mizner. Explanatory: Mizner – Missin’ her. Sep 13, 1878: Married, on the 9th of Sept. 1878, by S.H. Holmes, Justice, in Liberty, Mr. J.C. Landsdown, to Miss Olive Lansdown, of Douglas co., Kansas. The ceremony was performed in the presence of his honor, Judge Dunn, who gave the instructions to the bridal party, seconded by Hon. D.C. Allen. Benediction by Maj. Hardwicke. Sep 20, 1878: Married, Sept. 11th, 1878, by Elder A. C. Keener, at the home of Mr. Winn, in clay county, Mo., Mr. James D. Wasson and Miss Alice Winn, both of Clay co. – May peace and prosperity follow this happy couple. Sep 27, 1878: Married, on the 18th inst., at the residence of the bird, near Kearney, Mo., by J.W. Luke, Minister of the Gospel, Mr. Richard Swearingen, of Liberty, to Mrs. Ada Askew. A large company of the relatives and friends of both the bride and groom, were present and seemed very much to enjoy the occasion, and most especially a magnificent dinner which hospitality, taste and industry had prepared. “The Silken Thread.” Married, on Wednesday evening the 25th inst., at 4 o’clock p.m., at the Christian Church in this city, in the presence of a large and brilliant audience, by Elder A.B. Jones, Mr. George W. Corbin and Miss Nellie McCarty, daughter of the late Wm. A. McCarty – all of this city. Attendants. Miss Mollie Dawson and Mr. Will H. Newlee – Miss Laura Corbin and Mr. John T. Donaldson – Miss Lena Logan and Mr. Frank Corbin. The happy couple immediately left on a bridal tour to St. Louis, followed by the good wishes of their many friends. Our good friend Mr. Richard Swearengen is a lucky man. He was married last week to Mrs. Askew, a handsome and accomplished lady. Who would have supposed that such a woman would have married as old a gent as “Uncle Dick?” Oct 18, 1878: Married, on the 29th day of September, 1878, by Elder J.D. Gossett, Mr. Shelby Jesse and Miss Rebecca Thorp, both of Clay county. Nov 1, 1878: Married at the residence of A.J. Porter, of Clay county, on Wednesday the 23rd inst., MR. Alonzo Keys, of Carroll county, was married to Miss Mary Porter., the accomplished daughter of the host. Elder G.W. Longan performed the marriage ceremonies in an impressive manner. The contracting parties took the first train for Carroll co. – their future home. Nov 22, 1878: Missouri City Items. Mr. Samuel Roby and Miss Wilmath Linch were married on the 3rd inst., by Elder S.H. Carter, at his residence in Mo. City. Also by the same, Mr. Bayley George, of Clay county, and Miss Emma Right, of Jackson. The attendants were – Mr. Wiley Roberts and Miss Emma Fore. The ceremony was performed at Mr. Henry Rights, the bride’s father. Married, at the residence of the bride’s parents in Platte county, by Elder Wyatt, on the 6th inst., Mr. Edw. C. Pixlee, of this county, to Miss Flora Harrington, daughter of Miles Harrington, of Platte county. Attendants – Mr. Gill and Miss Luda Palmer; Mr. Thos. Pixley and Miss Mosby, all of Clay county. Married, on the evening of the 14th inst., at the residence of the bride’s mother, Mr. Chas. W. Wymore and Miss Anna Kirk. Rev. H.M. Richardson officiated. Married, on the 10th inst., by Rev. H. M. Richardson, at the home of the bride’s father, R.C. Ewing, Mr. Lilburn Arnold and Miss Mettie Ewing; all of this vicinity. Nov 29, 1878: Married, near Lathrop, Nov. 18th, by Elder Asa N. Bird, Mr. Wm. M. Green, to Miss Anna E. Whitaker. The accomplished bride is a granddaughter of Capt. G.M. Pryor. Dec 13, 1878: Married near Bainbridge, Clinton co., on the 6th inst., at the residence of Benj. Lingenfelter, Esq., by Elder W.H. Shannon, of Clay co., Mr. Edmond Gladamore and Miss Tula Wills, both of Clinton co. Married, at the home of the bride in Osage county, Dec. 4, 1878, by Rev. MR. Briggs, Mr. J.R. Bradley, of Callaway co., to Miss Mary F. Herndon. Dec 20, 1878: Barry Items: Miss Ivan Cox wedded Wm. Wilhite, both of Platte. A distant relative of Mr. John Gregg, Miss Moda, married a Mr. Draesler, of Barton county. So Mote it be. Married on Thursday the 12th inst., at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. Bud Ellis, of Jackson county, Mo., and Miss Mary Alice Drane, of Clay county, Job South, J.P., officiating. Married. – At the residence of Benj. Lingenfelter, near Bainbridge, this county on Thursday the 5th inst., Mr. Edward Stoutimore, son of Berryman Stoutimore, was joined to Miss--- Wills in the holy bonds of matrimony. Elder wm.
