Payne, Mr. John Purley, to Miss Rachel Maria Reed—all of this place. Cake received. The Devil returns his thanks, and expresses the wish that they may always remember him. Jan 16, 1852: In this place, on the 8th, by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. Samuel Jerome, to Miss Martha E. Houseley—all of this city. We acknowledge the receipt of a slice delicious cake, we wish the couple complete happiness and “lots of” little joys. Jan 30, 1852: In this place, on the 22d inst., by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. William F. Flandro, to Miss Alvina, daughter of Cyrus Rashear—all of Liberty. The Cake sent us was excellent, and if our good wishes would avail anything, their path thro’life would be strewed with roses. “She is thin – the word is spoken, Hand to hand, and heart to heart! Though all other ties are broken, Time these bonds shall never part. “Each the other’s love possessing, Say what care should cloud that brow; She will be to thee a blessing.
