The following marriages appeared in The Weekly Tribune, Liberty, Clay County, 
Missouri during the year of 1849.  Some the marriages did not occur in Clay 
County.  The date of publication is shown prior to the item(s).

Jan 5, 1849:
In this  county on the 21st ult., by Elder A. H.F. Payne, William H. Dorsey, of 
Baltimore, to Miss Arabella Arthur, of Clay County.

On the same day, by the same, Elder, Mr. Hudson, to Mrs. R. Officer, of this 
county.

Jan 19, 1849:
On the 7th inst., by Rev. Dr. Potts, Col. Nathaniel G. Woods, of Danville, Ky., 
to Mrs. Sarah Ann Moss, of St. Louis.

Mar 2, 1849:
In this county, on the 28th ult., by Rev. J.M.C. Inskeep, Mr. John S. Story, to 
Miss Minerva J., daughter of Wade Moseby, Esq., - all of this county.

Apr 6, 1849:
In Independence on the 29th ult., by Rev. Thos. Ashby, James, C. Rigg, Esq., of 
Liberty, to Miss Susan S. Knowles, of Independence.

Apr 27, 1849:
In Richmond, on the 18th, by Rev. R.H. Allen, Mr. W.D. Rice, to Miss Mary E. 
daughter of Andrew H. Ringo, - all of Richmond, Mo.

Jun 1, 1849:
On Sunday morning, the 13th of May, 1849, by Rev. F. Wilhoit, Mr. Lucian J. 
Eastin, Junior Editor of the Jefferson Inquirer, to Miss Sarah F. Dale, eldest 
daughter of Mrs. Ellen Dale, of Rocheport, Boone county, Mo.

Jun 15, 1849:
In this place on Thursday the 14th inst., by the Rev. T.M. Bacon, Mr. Bernard 
Moseby, to Miss Emerine, daughter of Samuel Tillery.

In Buchanan county, on the 6th inst., by Rev. Thos. Scanlin, Bela M. Hughes, 
Esq., to Miss Laura Louisa Allen.

Jun 29, 1849:
On Wednesday, by the Rev. Mr. Price Mr. Samuel S. Hughes, to Miss Margaret 
Pixlee, all of this county.

Aug 3, 1849:
In this county on the 26th, by Rev. H. Searcy, Mr. M.S. Arnold, to Miss Lucy 
Holbert, - all of this county.

Aug 17, 1849:
On  Tuesday, the 31st ult., in Louisiana, Mo., by the Rev. R.P. Holt, Dr. 
Thomas J. Hardin, of Columbia, Boone county, Mo., to Miss Anastasia Hesser, 
daughter of Benj. F. Hesser, Esq., of Louisiana.

Sep 21, 1849:
In this county on the 11th, by Elder H. Hill, Mr. O.P. Mitchell, to Miss 
Elizabeth Tillery – all of Clay county.

Sep 28, 1849:
In Richmond, on the 20th inst., by Elder Gaines, Major James S. Lightner, to 
Miss Adaline, daughter of Capt., Anderson Martin.

Oct 5, 1849:
In this county on the 26th, by Rev. T.M. Bacon, Moore K. Lurty, Esq., to Miss 
Mary, daughter of Wm. Laidlow – all of this county.

Nov 16, 1849:
In this place on the morning of the 13th, by Rev. T.M. Bacon, John Arthur, 
Esq., to Miss Amanda Stevens – all of Clay county.

Nov 23, 1849:
In this county, on the 20th, by Elder A.H.F. Paine, Mr. John P. Hubbell, to 
Miss Maria, daughter of Mr. Thomas Morton, all of this county.

In this county on the 15th by Elder A.H.F. Paine, Richard C. Morton, to Miss 
Sarah Prior – all of this county.
Accompanying this notice was a large slice of delicious cake.  We tender our 
thanks to the fair bride who sent it, and assure her that if she makes her 
husband as good a wife as she does cake, he will possess a “pearl above all 
price.”

Dec 7, 1849:
On the 27th inst., in Rocheport, by Elder D.P. Henderson, Dr. Alexander L. 
Robinson, to Miss Mary W. Carter, all of Rochport, Boone co., Mo.

In Louisiana, Pike county, Mo., on the 14th inst., by Rev. Levy Hatchett, E.C. 
Murray, Esq., senior editor of the “Banner” to Miss Marian B., eldest daughter 
of William Luce, Esq.

Dec 14, 1849:
In Columbia on Sabbath morning, (the 3d inst., ) at 10 o’clock, by Elder W.W. 
Keep, Mr. George C. Bingham, “the Missouri Artist,” of Arrow Rock, to Miss 
Eliza, daughter of Prof. Robert s. Thomas, of that place.

In this county on the 6th, by Elder Henry Hill, Mr. John Soper, to Miss Sarah 
Estes – all of Clay county.
