Some the marriages did not occur in Clay County. The date of publication is shown prior to the item(s). Feb 7, 1851: On Thursday evening the 16th inst., by the Rev Z.N. Roberts, W.H. Adams, of the Platte Argus, to Miss Harriet A., daughter of G.W. Gist, Esq. All of Weston. Feb 28, 1851: In this county, on the 27th inst., by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Jasper M. Hickson, Esq., to Miss Barbara Darnall, - all of this county. We wish the young couple a long, happy and prosperous life, and may they realize the fact, that “Connubial love has dearer names, And finer ties, and sweeter claims, Than e’er unwedded hearts can feel, Than wedded hearts can e’er reveal’ Pure as the charities above, Rise the sweet sympathies of love; And closer cords than those of life, Unite the husband to the wife. Mar 14, 1851: In this county on the 11th, by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. Carter Dale, to Miss Mary Jane Turner, - all of Clay. Cake received! “Sweet tie that links as one Two spirits fond and true – What, what is all that time has done, Or all that time can do! Recorded vows of love In heaven for e’er abide, And none shall part, save one above, The bridegroom and the bride.” In this county on Sunday the 9th, by Rev. W.H. Price, Mr. James P. Withers, to Miss Sarah E. McNealy, - all of Clay County. Cake received! Riley to Miss Ann Moris, on Thursday 13. May 16, 1851: On Thursday the 8th inst., by Elder E.S. Dulin, Mr. Francis M. Minter, of this county, to Miss Anna Maria Bowlin, of Andrew county, Mo. We acknowledge with the above notice a fine lot of cake, raisins, candy, &c., for which the young couple have our thanks. “Hail, happy state! which few have heart to sing, Because they feel how faintly words express So kind, and dear, and chaste, and sweet a thing As tried affection’s lasting tenderness; Yet stop, my venturous muse! and fold they wing, Nor to a shrine so sacred rudely press; For, marriage, - thine is till a silent boast, “Like beauty unadorned, adorned the most.”” May 23, 1851: In Platte county on Tuesday the 13th inst., by the Rev. May 30, 1851: In Independence, at the Catholic Church, on Sunday last, Mr. Jabez Smith, aged 74 years, to Miss ---- Kean, aged 16, all of Independence. Jun 13, 1851: On the 20th ult., by the Rev. George S. Woodward, Mr. Rich. Jeans, of Jackson county, to Miss Lucinda, daughter of Joseph D. Gash, of Clay county. Jul 4, 1851: In this place on the 20th, by his Honor, Judge Hendley, Henry Morton, Esq., to Miss Susan Parish – all of this place. Jul 11, 1851: On the morning of th 17th ult., by Rev. T.R. Cressey, at his residence, Maj. John H. Evans, of Flemingsburg, Ky., to Mrs. Elizabeth Cockrell, of Liberty, Clay county, Mo. Jul 18, 1851: In this county on the 12th, by Rev. Z.N. Roberts, Mr. John F. Claywater, to Miss Mary Jane Parish. Accompanying the above was a slice of delicious cake, for which, the young couple hae our best wishes for their happiness and success. Jul 25, 1851: In Independence, on the 13th inst., by the Rev. R.S. Symington, Gen. Samuel D.Lucas of Independence, to Miss Mya W. Symington, of Hanover, Ia. Aug 8, 1851: On Thursday the 31st ult., by Rev. Henry Hill, Mr. G.S. W. Jesse, to Miss Lucinda J., daughter of Henry Pence – all of Clay county. Aug 15, 1851: On Wednesday week, by Rev. E.T. Peery Mr. Charles Epperson; one of the proprietors of the Kansas Public Ledger, to Miss Mary Thelkeld. Aug 22, 1851: In Platte county, on the 16th inst., Mr. John E. Bird, to Miss Kate P. Kelley, both of Parkville. Aug 29, 1851: On the 12th inst., by the Rev. D. Patten, Mr. G.W. Everett, to Miss Caroline, daughter of Wm. Wilson – all of this county. Sep 26, 1851: On the 16th by the Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. Thos. Estes, to Miss Nancy Chany – all of Clay. Oct 24, 1851: In this county on the 16th inst., by Elder A.H.F. Payne, Mr. James M. Clay, to Miss Mary C., daughter of Thomas C. Gordon, Esq. – all of Clay county. We acknowledge the receipt of a slice of excellent cake. “May their joys never end, and Love still increase, While affinity engender grace and peace.” Nov 14, 1851: In this county on the 29th ult., by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. Wm. Pickett to Miss Margaret J. Wills. Dec 19, 1851: In this county, on Thursday, the 11th inst., by Elder A.H.F. Payne, Mr. William A. McCarty, to Miss Alley, daughter of Maj. A. M. Riley – All of Clay county. We acknowledge the receipt of a fine supply of cake with the above notice, for which, the young couple have our thanks. Dec 26, 1851: In this county on Tuesday the 23d, by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. Chas. W. Buster, to Miss George Ann, daughter John Minter – all of this county.
