The following marriages appeared in The Weekly Tribune, Liberty, Clay County, 
Missouri during the year of 1853.  Some the marriages did not occur in Clay 
County.  The date of publication is shown prior to the item(s).

Jan 7, 1853:
In this place on the 28th ult., by Rev. W.C. Ligon, Mr. Nath’l Grant, to Miss 
Bettie K. Boughton – all of this county.

In Lexington, on the 16th ult., by Rev. Mr. Calhoon, Rev. C.A. Davis, to Mrs. 
Anne W. Diggs – all of Lexington.

On the 26th ult., by Justice M. Tillery, Mr. Geo. Wirt, to Miss Caroline 
Inskeep.

Jan 21, 1853:
On Sunday morning last, by Rev. E.S. Dulin Mr. George W. Jenks to Miss Bettie 
Tillery, all of this place.

Feb 4, 1853:
In this county, on the 27th ult., by the Rev. Mr. Todd, Mr. J.H.C. Hopewell, to 
Miss Mary Jane Horner, all of this county.

Feb 18, 1853:
On  Thursday the 2d inst., by Rev. Jacob S. Faubian, Mr. H.R. Davis, to Miss 
Martha Ann, daughter of John McKissick – all of Clay county.

On Thursday the 13th ult., by the Rev. Mr. Woodward, Mr. Housan Hunn, of 
Parkville, to Miss Nancy E., daughter of Martin Davis, of Clay county.

Feb 25, 1853:
On the 1st inst., by Rev. F. Graves, Mr. L. Herndon Lindsey, of Haynesville, to 
Miss Emma A., daughter of Col. Moses Hubbard, of Clay county.

In Wyandott City, on the 13th inst., by the Rev. R. Scarrit, Mr. Isaiah Walker, 
to “the Rose of Wiandott,” the accomplished Miss Mariah Williams – all of the 
Wyandott Nation.

At Liberty Landing, on board the Timour, on the 28, by M. Tillery, Esq., Mr. 
John Barns, to Miss Rosana Beeding, both of Parkville.

Mar 18, 1853:
In this county, on Tuesday the 15th inst., by Rev. E.S.Dulin, Dr. Sam’l S. 
Ligon, to Miss Harriet C. Long – all of Clay.

Apr 15, 1853:
This county, on Sunday morning the 10th, by E.S. Dulin, Mr. William Davenport, 
Merchant of this city, to Miss Rachiel, daughter of Cullen Melone, Esq., of 
this county.

Apr 22, 1853:
In Bloomington, on the 7th inst., by the Rev. I.B. Allen, Dr. W.H. Proctor, to 
Mrs. Mary Baird, - all of the above place.

On Tuesday evening 19th inst., by the Rev. A.H.F. Payne, Mr. Elbert Waller, to 
Miss Ann Twyman, both of this county.

Jun 17, 1853:
In this county, on Sunday morning the 12th inst., by Elder M.E. Lard, Mr. T.K. 
Bradley, Merchant of this city, to Miss Lucy, daughter of the late George 
Lincoln, of this county.
“But happy they! the happiest of their kind!

Jun 24, 1853:
In Glasgow on Wednesday 15th inst., by Rev. Wm. Perkins, Mr. Thomas A.H. Smith, 
Editor of the “Richmond Mirror,” to Miss Elizabeth Tally, of Glasgow.
We wish the young couple happiness and prosperity, and as years roll on may the 
bridegroom be able to exclaim – 
“I saw her, and I loved her – 
I sought her, and I won;
A dozen pleasant summers,
Since then have run;
And half as many voices
Now prattling by her side,
Remind me of the autumn
When she became my bride.”

In St. Louis, on Monday evening the 6th, by the Rev. Mr. Anderson, Mr. Theodore 
R. Posey, to Mrs. Sallie A. Woods, formerly of Liberty.

Mr. Ed. S. Mitchell, of Brunswick, to Miss Alice E. Thomas, formerly of this 
city.

In this County, on the 2nd inst., by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. Sam’l M.C. Hughart,

Oct 28, 1853:
In this county, October 20th, by Rev. Franklin Graves, Mr. W.H. Pence, to Miss 
Dinetia, daughter of Henry H. Estes, Esq. – all of Clay county.

In Boone county, on the 9th inst., by Elder Chrisman, Mr. F.V. Barkwell, to 
Miss Ann E. Pigg, all of Boone.  The Devil says little pigs will be abundant 
next year.

At Mountain view, in Fairfax county, Virginia, on Tuesday morning last, the 
Hon. James H. Birch, of Missouri, to Mrs. Elizabeth C. Frost, daughter of the 
late Wm. Fitzhugh Carter.

Dec 2, 1853:
In this city on the 29th ult., by Rev. Dr. Bacon, Mr. P.M. Savery (late of 
Attleborough, Mass.) to Miss Amanda G. Mitchell all of this city.
With the above was a gold dollar. May prosperity attend them.

In Richmond on Tuesday the 29th ult., by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. Samuel A. Ringo, 
of this city, to Miss Mary E.M. Ellis, of Richmond.  [No gold dollar rec’d]

In Richmond, on Wednesday the 30th ult., by Rev. E.S. Dulin, Mr. A.W. Nuckles, 
to Miss Martha A. Ringo.

In Kentucky, on the 9th ult., by Elder Wm. Morton, Dr. Wm. G. Logan (late of 
Missouri) to Miss Mildred T. M., daughter of Captain David Arnold, of Jessamine
