Some the marriages did not occur in Clay County. The date of publication is shown prior to the item(s). Jan 8, 1858: On the 29th December, by Rev. J.G. Fackler, Mr. William B. Cockrell, to Miss Louisa A. Turner, all of Liberty. At Liberty Landing, on the 29th ult., by Rev. Mr. Baxter, Mr. T.C. Hale, of Lexington, to Miss Mary F., daughter of Mr. John Baxter. Jan 15, 1858: On the 6th inst., by Rev. J.B. Link, Mr. George Strange, to Miss Halissa F. Collins, all of Clay county. Jan 29, 1858: In Clinton county, Mo., on the 21st inst., by Rev. Edward A. Martin, Mr. Robertson C. Ewing, of Clay county, to Miss Sallie Ann, daughter of Charles Downing, Esq., for merly of Mason county, KY. Gold dollar received: “May roses strew their future path, And joy light all the way, That leads them from the bridal hour To the close of life’s last day.” Feb 19. 1858: In this county on the 4th inst., by Rev. F. Graves, Mr. S.R. Trabue, to Miss Susan J., daughter of Uriel Cave, Esq., all of Clay. “The plighted word, the nuptial vow, Still lingers in the air; The wild bird’s song, and flowers e’en now, Smile round the happy pair. May the hue of health, the smile of joy, All draped in beauty’s bloom, Be ever yours without alloy, In pleasure and gloom.” Feb 26, 1858: On the 21st inst., in Platte City, by Elder A.H.P. Payne, Mr. S.L. Doty, to Miss Mary M. Wills. Mar 5, 1858: In St. Louis county, on Tuesday the 23d ult., by Rev. Mr. Barnhurst, Edward Haren, Jr. of St. Louis, to Miss Florida H. Price, formerly of Liberty. Mar 12, 1858: On the 4th inst., by Elder A.H. Wright, Mr. John N. Collier, to Miss Almarinda Braley, all of Clay county. Apr 2, 1858: In this county, on the 18th ult., by Elder A.H.F. Payne, Mr. A.W. Ecton, to Miss Adelia Hall, daughter of Col. John d. Hall, all of this county. On the 23d, A.W. Jones, of Kansas City, to Miss Julia Lawrence, of Independence. Jul 2, 1858: In the vicinity of Carrollton, on Tuesday the 8th ult., by the Rev. Joseph Riffe, Mr. William Adkins, aged 84 years, to Mrs. Sarah Hill, aged 36 years. The bridegroom was waited upon by Edward S. Farr, Esq., aged 77. Near this city on the morning of the 29th ult., by Elder A.B. Jones, Prof. J.B. Bradley to Miss Mary daughter of Wm H. Wymore Esq. Jul 23, 1858: In Ray County, Mo., on Tuesday July 20th, by Elder Leek, Mr. Daniel Gano, of Clay county, to Miss Nannie P. Hubbell, of Ray. Sep 3, 1858: In this county, on the 31st, by Prest. Thompson, Mr. John A. Funk, to Miss Sarah, daughter of A. Gartin, Esq., all of this county. In Fulton, on the 25th, by Rev. J.A. Hollis, Rev. James G. Smith, to Miss Isabel Gray McCredie, all of that place. Sep 24, 1858: On the 14th inst., at the Methodist Episcopal Church South, at Jefferson City, by the Rev. Mr. Leftwich, Robt. J. Lackey, of Washington City, D.C., to Mrs. Bettie Moore, daughter of Ex Gov. King. Oct 1, 1858: In this city on the 27th inst., by Rest. Thompson, Mr. David Agan, of Canton Mo., to Mrs. Virginia Summers, of this city. Oct 15, 1858: In this city on the 10th inst., by Rev. J.B. Link, Mr. Andrew R. Patrick, to Miss Mollie s. Vermilion, all of this city. May life be sweet as love’s young dream, When first the mutual faith is plighted, And bliss in heavenly fullness beam On these young hearts by love united. Nov 5, 1858: At the Arthur House, in this city, on Thursday evening Nov. 4th, by Prest. Thompson, Mr. Robert S. Adkins, Merchant of this city, to Miss Margaret Croysdale, all of this city. Nov 26, 1858: In this county on Thursday, the 18th inst., by Prest. Thompson, Mr. A.P. Evans, Merchant of this city, to Miss Eliza J. Baker, daughter of Caleb Baker, Esq., of this county. The “needful” received. We tender the young couple our best wishes for their happiness and prosperity. “Give me the boon of love, Ambition’s meed is vain; Dearer affections’s earnest smile Than honor’s richest train. I’d rather lean upon a breast Responsive to my own, Than sit pavilioned gorgeously Upon a kingly throne.” Dec 3, 1858: In Columbia, Mo., on the 22nd ult., Prof. Geo. H. Mathews, of the State University, to Miss Olevia Woodson, daughter of Judge Warren Woodson – all of Columbia. In St. Joseph, on Sunday the 21st ult., by Rev. Mr. Carson, Mr. August Schuster, of Savannah, to Miss Elizabeth Graff, of Andrew county. In this county on the 25th ult., by Elder R.C. Morton, Mr. John Foley, to Miss Elizabeth A., daughter of Th.
