Jan 31, 1862: On the 16th inst., at the residence of the bride’s father, in Bourbon county, Ky., by Rev. J.K. Lyle, Mr. James H. Kerr, of Fayette county, Ky., to Miss Annie E., daughter of Dr. John H. Brooks, of Bourbon. Feb 21, 1862: At the residence of the bride’s father, on the 13th inst., by the Rev. I.T. Williams, Mr. E.C. Balch, formerly of Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Miss Anna E. Watkins, of Clay county, Mo. May friendship open unto you, The path of peace and holy love, May life continued joys renew; May hope not too deceptive prove; May sweet contentment round you throw, Such bliss as may be found below. Mar 14, 1862: In this county, on the 4th inst., by Elder Josiah W. Waller, Elder Richard C. Morton, to Miss Missouri M. Ricketts, daughter of Judge Benj. Ricketts. “The plighted word, the nuptial vow, Still lingers in the air; The wild bird’s song, and the flowers e’en now Smile round the happy pair. May the hue of health, the smile of joy, All draped in beauty’s bloom, Be ever yours without alloy, In pleasure and in gloom.” Apr 11, 1862: In this county, on Wednesday evening the 9th inst., by Squire James M. Jones, Mr. Christian Kohlmeyer, of this city, to Miss Bertha Kleinschmidt. “Hymen, they brightest torch prepare, Guild with light the nuptial bower, With garlands crown this lovely pair, On them thy choicest blessings shower.” May 9, 1862: In this city, on the 1st inst., at the residence of the bride’s mother, by Rev. W.A. Tarwater, D.A.N. Grover, Esq., of Kansas City, to Miss I. Jennie Cockrell, of this city. The joys of childhood’s happy hour, The home of riper years, The treasured scenes of early youth, In sunshine and in tears; The purest hopes her bosom knew, When her young heart was free, All these and more she now resigns, To brave the world with thee. Jun 6, 1862: On the 24th April, 1862, by Rev. L.J.A. Prather, Hon, Wm. Swinney, of Clay, to Mrs. Sallie Titus, of Ray county. Jun 13, 1862: On the 14th of May, by Rev. Mr. Adams, Dr. J.C. Campbell, of Nebraska City, to Miss S.P. Childs, of Deposit, New York. July 4, 1862: In this city, on Tuesday morning the 1st inst., by Elder Henry Hill, Mr. Simpson Parks, of Platte co’ty, to Miss Martha Peters, daughter of the late John R. Peters, of this city. Aug 1, 1862: On the 17th inst., in Smithville, by Rev. Mr. Wallens, Mr. J. W. Silvas, of Leavenworth, to Miss T.G. Crockett, of Smithville. Sep 19, 1862: In Gallatin, Daviess county, on the 3d inst., Thomas J. Brown, Esq., of Ray county, and Miss Mollie R. Wirt, of the former place. Oct 3, 1862: In this county, on Wednesday morning the 1st inst., by Elder H. Hill, Mr. Wm. M. Pleas, of Leavenworth City, to Miss Azelia Gordon, daughter of Hon. Thos. C. Gordon, of this county. In this city, on Thursday the 2nd inst., by Elder Henry Hill, Mr. George Dressler, to Mrs. Emiline Moseby, daughter of the late Samuel Tillery, all of this county. Oct 10, 1862: Miss Ada Isaacs Menken, was recently married to Mr. R.H. Newell, the “Orpheus C. Kerr,” of the Sunday Mercury. Oct 24, 1862: On the 19th inst., by President Thompson at the residence of Geo. B. Duncan, in Clinton county, Colonel J.M. Strode, of this city, to Miss Carrie Fuller, of Haynesville, Mo. “Thus love shall live and live forever, And chance and change shall reach it never; Can hearts in which true love is plighted, By want or woe be disunited? Ah, no! like buds on one stem here, They share between them e’er the thorn, Which round them dwells but parts them not.” Oct 31, 1862: In this county on the 23d inst., by Elder R.C. Morton, Mr. Jefferson Harper, of Weston, Mo., to Miss Pauline Keller, daughter of Col. J.M. Keller. Nov 14, 1862: In this county on the 6th inst., at the residence of Darius Gittings, Esq., by President Thompson, John A. Beauchamp, Esq., to Miss Sidney N. Owens, all of this county. Married in this county on the 22d ult., by Esquire Tillery, Major John Merrit Lasear, to Miss Emma Crook, all of Clay county. Nov 28, 1862: Brig. Gen. B.M. Prentiss, was married at Quincy, Illinois, on the 11th inst., to Miss Mary W. Whitney. Dec 26, 1862: In this county, on the 13th inst., by Rev. Mr. Naramore, Mr. A.J. Sutton to Miss Rachael Smith, all of this county.
