MISSOURI CITY ITEMS The weather still dry, gardens and oats suffering badly for rain; wheat heading and filling well, but will be very short. Corn looks exceedingly well, farmers generally have their corn in good condition. The health of the community is generally good; Mrs. Shephard living north of town is very sick; Mr. William Clevenger living in the bottom below town is slowly recovering from a long and painful illness. We learn that Mrs. Taylor, the wife of Mr. James Taylor, is dead. She was on a visit to Platte county and was taken sick while up there and died. Col. Donighee and Mr. James Snap have just returned from a trip to Paris, Monroe county; they went down as messengers to the State Sunday School Convention of the Christian church. They report it as very dry down there. The popular drug house of A.P. Gano has just been repainted inside making it look neat as a pin. We hear it whispered that there will be some large new store rooms built during the summer. That’s the way to make a town. Mr. John Stadler has moved his stock of furniture to Mr. G.A. Chancellor’s store room west of the P.O. Our City Band gives us sweet music of nights; we have one of the best bands now in the State. Fairs and others desiring to employ a band would do well to call on the Mo. City Band. Fran- Kus.
